Re: JV2080 - timing/latency problems

The multi-sampling confirmed what I suspected I was hearing in my music though, I've definitely got some tracks where I can hear the timing fall over, the notes and beats lag. I'd share some of it up but it's protected by an NDA. I've been sequencing hardware via midi for over 20 years on a range of...

JV2080 - timing/latency problems

I have a JV2080 which I've been using for many years, but just lately I've been hammering it a lot as a multi-timbral sound source. I'm noticing timing/syncing discrepancies that don't seem to be tied to any one particular channel, patch or sound. I use it with a midi-sport 4x4 user interface and ol...

Re: Listening to mix on multiple sources

I would definately listen on as many different setups as possible. Even when mixing in a perfect neutral studio on decent monitors I've always tested the track or game (my job) out on every single speaker to hand - monitors, old pc speakers, flatscreen tv, 5.1 system... and in the case of my own mus...

Re: s**t Luck With Vintage Gear

The osc 2 PW waveform switch on my JP6 has never worked (I've had to start with a patch with it 'on' if I want to use PW on osc 2) Aside from that no issues - but in terms of new kit : the encoders on the Blofeld tend to play up, I've fixed this using Stromeko Diy's encoder fix (soldering capacitors...

Re: Help for noob's first analog synth

One day if I ever have funds again I'll be getting that upgrade board + the europa for my JP.

Yeah that kiwi-3p sounds like it'll make the JX kick even more a*s to be sure!

Re: Help for noob's first analog synth

My roland JX3P was my second ever analogue synth, the first being my yammy SK30. As the 3P had two oscillators, Sync and Crossmod (Metal) modes, + a much more resonant filter than the SK, I really learnt a lot more about the fundamentals of synthesis on the JX3P. It's a great, rich sounding machine ...

Re: The Disappearance of Real MIDI Editing

For me the list editor is vital for sorting out messages and making sure everything's under control. That said I'm still using Cubase VST 32 v5 which is about 13 years old or something! :)

Re: what hardware is used in the 5 synths inside the Monomac

Yeah it's nothing to be sad about at all, it's a wonderful world of audio out there, natural, acoustic, electro-analogue and digital. Before computer electronics are advanced or fast enough, all these wonderful analogue circuits that exist were the only tools we had for manipulating electronic audio...

Re: Most abused synths/tones

Not sure about pop tracks, but the 303 (and 303 type sounds) has been pretty much overdone in the last 20 years or so (!! feeling old !!) , but then... ah it's just such a great simple sound.

Re: Gigging with vintage synths (Juno 60)

I've gigged my JX3P h**l of a lot, and my Jupiter 6 a few times, both seemed very happy in the hot sweaty and smokey environments they were put into. As the Juno is from roughly the same era I'm sure it'll be fine. (I seem to remember Banco De Gaia aka Toby Marks used to take his out a lot)

Re: Synth Studio On A Budget thread to sticky?

Future Music did a great article on this way, way back in one of their very first issues. (Like issue 6 or something) I wonder if they ever did an updated one?

Re: Hybrid Synths - cheaper poly analog?

Why not something like the Roland JX3P or Korg Poly800? Both very capable polyphonic analogue synths, and cheap. (And you really don't need a PG200, I've never had one, and I find the 3P very easy to tweak and play with) As an owner of both Analogue and VA Synths, along with romplers, I think a lot ...

Cleaning Sliders and Dials - alternatives to isopropanol?

Hi, I just got my SK30 out for a test and play, and quite a few of the sliders and dials are crackling, most likely due to collected dust and dirt. (As it's been sat unplayed for a very long time) Normally I would spray in some contact cleaner (with isoproponol or similar), but the issue with doing ...
