Just checking in: did anyone ever find a solution for a Casio FZ screen replacement?

Re: Novation Ultranova is surprisingly cool

Good to know! I'm not really a fan of the automap stuff, as I find Ableton's remote scripts work fine for my needs. I think I'll wait for the right moment and pick one of these up when the price is right.

Re: Novation Ultranova is surprisingly cool

So the Ultranova has been on my shortlist of synths I'll probably purchase when I come across a good deal. I've also considered replacing my USB MIDI controller with this.

Anyone using their Ultranova as a USB controller? How is it?

These are files I hope I never have a need for, but thank you for making them available!

Re: Korg DSS-1

Maybe take a look at the E-mu vintage keys module. I believe it's got the mellotron sounds in it, but I've never used one myself.

Re: Martin Lueders PG8X (JX8P soft synth)

I was just playing this tonight, wishing I had saved my patches when I had a JX8P. It really does sound great. A bit of a CPU hog on my aging iMac, but a great sound nonetheless. One issue I did have was trying to open the .fxb files from the site. I couldn't get PG8X or Ableton to recognize them as...

Re: Director-S for the Roland S-330?

I might be able to help you... Yes, they're two different versions for S-330 and S-550. But, I believe I have dongle-free versions of both. I don't have an S-330, and I haven't had time to test my dongle-free S-550 version, but I sent it to another forum member and I don't remember hearing that it d...

Re: Hardware Sampler Question (Mostly just "why")

The question of "why?" seems to come up a lot these days with hardware samplers. For every answer to "why?" you may find ten answers to "why not?". Here are my big reasons why: 1) The sound. I like that these things go CRUNCH, and they all do it differently. 2) There is value in the process of creat...

Re: ASR-X sequencer

I have heard that having the latest OS EPROM solves the midi timing issues, but I have never had a machine in front of me to test or confirm.

...They certainly look the business, though, don't they?

Re: Director-S for the Roland S-330?

Did anyone ever try my re-hacked S-550 Director-S disk image? I never did test it myself. I should still have it, if anyone is still interested. No guarantees that it actually works, though. :D

Re: *EMBARRASING* ESQ-1 Display short circuit

Thanks, Rhino. It's good to know I'm not the first to encounter a non-functional display/keypad.

I'll contact Rainer and see if he's got any of those chips left. My fear is that even if I drop the cash for the chip, there could be something else wrong with the board. Time will tell.

*EMBARRASING* ESQ-1 Display short circuit

Man, I feel like a shmuck. I was testing voltages on the power supply of my Ensoniq ESQ-1, and I managed to create a short on the display board. As one can imagine, this did create a positive result. I now have an ESQ-1 that has no working display, no response from the keypad buttons, and wil...

Very good transaction with resonant_frequency. Item arrived in great condition and well packaged. A special thanks goes out to resonant_frequency for having the patience to let me sort out some paypal issues (moving to a new country can be a pain).
