Re: Sony DPS-M7 & DPS-F7, and other double-personality devic
Excellent topic! Few years ago i've burned D7 ROMs, installed them into R7 and while it booted, the effects just didn't work right. They were all working in single channel. BTW does anyone know what was the latest OS version of the R7? I currently have 1.20 but somehow i vaguely remember a friend me...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards
I have two JV-1080s - one early serial number and one late - so once I get the card out of the one it got stuck in (and pull it apart to see what caused it to get stuck) I'll try the other one as well and see if it's the same or different. Kinda offtopic question. Does the LCD display on the newer ...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards
Thanks for the offer, but I got the D70 angle covered already. Have you got U-20 covered? I'd be glad to participate. (Also have JD990, JV1080, D70, and D50 i know they are covered, but just wanted to mention this comment comes from hard core synth programmer who would be glad to run a ton of tests...

Re: Director-S for the Roland S-330?
I'd like to try it. Just restored my S-550. It's finally working right.Silverfish wrote:Did anyone ever try my re-hacked S-550 Director-S disk image? I never did test it myself. I should still have it, if anyone is still interested. No guarantees that it actually works, though.

Good news!
:!: Update to the topic! Due to increased demand, Moog decided to run the limited production batch of Old School Voyagers. There will be something like 200 more (or so) new units produced. Just wanted to share this info i got directly from Moog. These will be the so called "limited edition". So... b...

Re: Your thoughts about rompler synthesis
I think the Roland JD-990 is very related to a previous Roland product and engine. Why? The JD-990 filters, ring modulation, structures, and basic tonal character are all found in the Roland S-770 Sampler from two years earlier. Indeed, Osc Sync and X-Mod are new with the arrival of the JD-990, but...

Re: Your thoughts about rompler synthesis
In your opinion Don, is the price differential between the JD990 and JV1080 on the used market justified. To cut the long story short, here is the definitive JV-1080 vs JD-990 thread which should answer about every possible question you have or had about Roland Super JV-1080 vs. Super JD-990. There...

Re: Your thoughts about rompler synthesis
The Roland JD-series synths are derived from the Roland S-7xx sampling engine IMO, JD-990 is unique and it represents a new starting point that isn't related to any previous Roland's product or engine. It introduces a bag of completely new, from scratch built features that didn't existed previously...

Re: Your thoughts about rompler synthesis
The JD-990 is not a Rompler, it's a wavetable synth. There is a huge difference in synthesis here that you are not recognizing, and this is a synthesis website. I can understand your confusion because it can load ROM cards that contain additional wavetables (not sample libraries). That sort of comm...
