Re: The Poly 800 Appreciation Thread

I still love mine and use it a lot too, it was free and I just had to replace the battery and reload presets too etc.

They definitely can't be used as a midi controller, sends weird extra values etc. Think it was the first synth with midi?

Re: The Official 'Secrets of the Studio' Thread!

how about some tips on eqing a mix? That's not a bad starter guide, but people might not know exactly what each of those words really sounds like. The best thing that helped me learn the sounds of frequencies was doing a lot of live engineering, and spending a lot of time working a graphic EQ to tu...

Re: Synthesizer with Marshall amplifier

Maybe in Ohio for some reason, but the rest of the world prefers a 57 to a 58 on a guitar cab. If you don't believe me have a google of "guitar cab mic techniques" or something like that. Anyway, this is getting a bit OT. It should be mentioned that all-tube amps are a bit more picky about things l...

Re: A Universal Editor/Librarian for Hardware?

tried sound diver by emagic?
I use that and midiquest, still getting used to midiquest though, its definitely not working as it should....

probably easiest to write or adapt an adaptation for sounddiver!

theres lots of sysex editors for different synths out there too, usually they suck.

Re: is smoking in a room bad for the output of a synth

cigarette ash is magnetised, cannabis ash isn't.
check out the insides of any equipment at any radio station!
I've seen a lot of dj mixers and computers die within a year from constant ciggy ash.

cannabis ash probably fixes synths.

Re: Microphones

Getting ready to buy a pair of Sennheiser 451's, and I think a new vocal mic. Looking for a good vocal mic below $1000, above $200. Basically, I need something better than the NT1A. I like the AKG414 but I really don't think I can justify $1000 on one right now. Suggestions? NT1A + octavamod? http:...

Re: synth stands for desktop

I know this isn't what you're asking for, but I have two keyboards on my desktop "tiered". I put one keyboard on the desktop and then I put a simple X stand between the desk and the wall - I put the X stand at a high level setting so it's like a tier that hovers above the desk (and the bottom keybo...
