Re: Prophet 6
That Prophet 6 is dead sexy though! I can't wait to see what Katsunori UJIIE at MusictrackJP will do with it when he does a review/demo video up!!

Re: what string synths did bobby o use
Bobby O! Great Hi-NRG dance music!
I think I hear a Jupiter 8 in some of his stuff particularly The Flirts. Similar sounds to stuff on the first Duran Duran record and I know Nick Rhodes used a Jupiter 8 extensively.

Re: Roland SH01
Played one at GC yesterday. It sounds fine but it was incredible how cheap and toy-like it felt! Why didn't they make it out of aluminum or something? One drop going up some stairs to a gig and that's all she wrote. I certainly wouldn't tour with this thing. I see it as having zero durability and sh...

Re: Akai MINIAK
After watching this video review/demo, I really want this synth. I don't speak or understand a word of German but the synth speaks for itself! I think it sounds great and has very usable sounds even in the presets for what I like to do which is early 80's styled synthpop 6:49 to 6:58 on the video.(o...

Re: Roland SH-201
Since the Micron you have has good sounds, is it possible to maybe get a controller keyboard that has plenty of assignable knobs and sliders and use the Micron as a module?
Something like this maybe....

Re: How can I achieve the Zapp & Roger bass synth funk sound?
I have to admit, that was some pretty cheezy stage and costume efforts.
That being said, it's nice to see some funk played LIVE with REAL musicians instead of some guy with a MacBook pro, a keyboard controller with some "singers" doing their best lip sync like we have today.

Almost every song on the first Madonna record. Lucky Star being an all time favorite!
Prince - Controversy. That record is just loaded with tasty synth sounds!

Alesis Ion. New/near mint condition. For hours of fun making all of the 80's noises that are dear to my heart. http://www.sweetwater.com/feature/technotes/issue2-ion/ion.jpg Roland Juno D. I love the piano sound and the light weight/portability. http://www.nzmusician.co.nz/images/0205/Juno5.jpg This...

I know he loved his Jupiter 8 but not sure what bass sounds that's capable of.

The first $100 gets it. Buy it now is the same price. Comes with cool extras. Get a sweet deal on a barely used unit.

Re: A good, small midi controller for note input?
Oxygen 8 v2. Right around $100 (give or take). Measurements; 16" x 10" x 2.5". Vince Clarke (Yazoo, Erasure) uses one with his MacBook pro. Good enough for Vince...good enough for the rest of us!
