Re: Uli Behringer's deeply concerning post
Behringer are corporate bullies and they know very well that Doug Curtis's wife and family, Tom Oberheim and other small companies cannot afford to take them on legally as Behringer will put 5 lawyers on the case and drag it through court until the company goes bankrupt from legal fees.

Re: Uli Behringer's deeply concerning post
I've owned exactly one piece of equipment by Behringer. It was a little four or five-channel mixer, and it sounded like total a*s and clipped out in a junky digital way if you so much as looked at it funny. I don't see myself buying anything else from them any time soon, even if it is cheaper. And ...

Re: Uli Behringer's deeply concerning post
Deadringer seems to have a new moto: I want integrity and I'm willing to pay for it. I am all for them producing affordable synths but a cheap piece of bottom end electronics hidden inside a case that is a copy of another brand's classic instrument is a marketing exercise, not a re-issue. To then pu...

Re: Behringer's Mini Moog
It's clickbait. Every few years they pop a "question" onto social media to create a click storm and lots of chatter to increase Google rankings for their brand. "Would you like us to make a $1000 ARP Odyssey?" "Would you mind if we made a $600 Minimoog"? I am even beginning to wonder if the $1000 Ju...

Re: Roland SH-7 technical article
Yes, perhaps there were less SH-7's produced than SH-5's, unless it's simply that the SH-5's don't come up for sale as often. I see more SH-5's for service than SH-7's. They are both wonderful synthesizers, they are both expensive but I am not surprised, they are very solid, substantial instruments ...

Re: Roland SH-7 technical article
Thanks Mini, next up is the SH-101. The SH-7 is definitely a lot of fun, hard to find though, not too many around.minime123 wrote:Great blog, Steve, keep up the good work! Now we may have to buy an SH-7 for our studio next year.
Thanks for that. >:(

Re: Few questions for the pros. (Oberheim OB-8)
If they have been boxed and unused for a long time you may well find severe damage inside the DMX and the DSX from leaking NiCd batteries. If you want top dollar prices for those items you should get them checked out so that you can provide some kind of condition report for potential buyers.

Re: Roland System 100, Yamaha CS 30 and Teisco 110f by arp
I think that the CS-30 would be the most rewarding synth from that list. It's extremely powerful for a mono-synth as far as routing and modulation. It's also a handful to learn the control layout.

Roland SH-7 technical article
Please take this down mods if it's not appropriate, I wanted to mention that I have just put up a technical walk through of the Roland SH-7 duophonic synth on my blog with some nice photos of the insides. It's one of my favourite synths and it gets less love than the SH-5 which I think is a bit unfa...

Re: Do different oscillators have their "own" sound ?
Some VCO's do indeed have a sound, I hear that every day at my workshop. I wonder if an un-mentioned factor that might possibly effect the sound of different VCO's is slew rate? It's one thing to look at scope traces showing waveforms comparing different VCO's running at a set frequency but what hap...

Re: Can one clean a Space Echo with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol?
Most electronics stores sell pure iso. Good for heads and guides, not good for rubber pinch rollers and be especially careful if you use it on a capstan, make sure that the swab is barely wet because if the alcohol runs down the capstan shaft it can potentially wash the lubricant from the bearings.

Re: Dust Covers for Synths and Drum Machines | Stardust
Very nice work. That kind of quality is pretty rare these days, I think that they will be worth the price. I wish the Australian dollar wasn't sitting at .47 pence right now though.

Re: Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 rev 2 expectations
just contributed this to a thread on another forum and thought it might be helpful to cross-post here in case anyone searched for info on rev2 machines in the future: when we restore our vintage analog instruments, we basically try to get them to behave/tune as close to new digital instruments as p...
