He’s mentioned elsewhere, but I’m not sure how Jan Hammer’s work on Timeless with John Abercrombie didn’t make it in here. The solo on the title track is a wonder:

Re: Why Aren't More Classic Synths Produced Today?
Revive again. Three additional years later, the Model D has come back both from Moog and Berhringer, who is also doing an Odyssey or it’s own. Prices for the latter and the Korg minikeys are really affordable. Meanwhile, Dave Smith had been taking things in kind of a parallel direction, innovating o...

Yes! Forgot about the Easel reissue. In fact, I just saw and (poorly) played with one at the Analog Heaven Northeast meetup. Think that one had been purchased within the last few months...

Re: Why Aren't More Classic Synths Produced Today?
So six years after I started this thread, reissues of classic synths are gaining steam. Off the top of my head, we have: Tom Oberheim SEM/Two Voice Korg MS-20 Mini ARP Odyssey Mini We have the modular craze which has turned in a number of fascinating reissues of oscillators, filters, etc. that have ...

Revive! Anyone know why MPV pulled these? Pretty elaborate effort given that he also edited all his posts. Thankful for the archiving by his fans.

Really like it so far.
One quibble: any idea why Don Buchla wasn't interviewed for this?

Re: Your Favorite Sounds Designed on the Minimoog
Right -- awesome thread. The point of this thread isn't just to post a ton of YouTubes. It's to talk about more esoteric or distinct sounds you design (or know how to).

Your Favorite Sounds Designed on the Minimoog
Anyone worth their salt in the Internet age knows the Minimoog patch books out there -- Tom Rhea's and the like. And I recognize that a big part of the Minimoog is the performance aspects of the synth -- the wheels but also the front-facing control panel twiddled live by the best players. So puttin...

Considering an Oberheim Xpander
So, after reading through this board and a bunch of Gearslutz threads, I'm contemplating whether I should buy an Oberheim Xpander. I love its sound -- and from a control point, it almost seems a bit like a Polyevolver in terms of its modulation flexibility. Plus, I am totally seduced by Steve Roach'...

Re: Where Is the Love for the Roland GR-300 Guitar Synth?
Great site, wow. I've had my GR-300 since about 1989 -- love it but if there were one mod I wish I could do it would be to expand the sound palette somehow (square waves, etc.). But I get the impression frkmone of Wayne's writeups that the sound itself has something to do with the accuracy of the tr...

Re: What kind of synth's did the Bee Gees use????
Maurice played a lot of the synths in the 80s too, I'm guessing at how their sound changed that the M1 was featured heavily towards the late 80s/early 90s stuff (unfortunately). Revive! I'm a big fan of the sound Robin and Maurice crafted on How Old Are You -- Robin's synthpop solo album from 1983....

Not on those sounds. Both synths are perfectly capable of making them.

Yeah, I don't think this is some fundamental flaw -- he just probably set them identically by sight not sound.

Re: Jupiter 8 versus Jupiter 6 ?
Nope -- just one out.
JP-6's is loud as well. It also has a tendency to distort pretty seriously if you have the VCA turned up.
