Re: Oberheim OB-6 Dave Smith
It's outside of my price range like almost all oberheims (that I want) seem to always be, but if he was going to drop a new synth with dave smith I'm glad to see it is SEM based. I would much rather have an SEM filter'd oberheim than anything else. One of these days I'll probably buy this instead of...

Re: MS-20 legato
several things you could likely do, probably the most common is to patch the button trig to retrigger eg1 with your left hand as you play a lead with your right. it's arguably why they put it there in the first place.

Martin Gore - MG, "they call it euro-crack"
New instrumental album from DM's Martin Gore. It's "80%" eurorack". Basically made a sci-fi film score. One of the interviews is funny, when he's showing his studio and goes on about his euroracks and how he hasn't been able to stop collecting (wish I had that kinda bank account). Interview, synth t...

Re: What's your favorite synthesis method--
All 3 of those things are legit forms of synthesis along with vector, resynthesis, etc. I don't think this thread wants to go that route though... it's teetering on becoming "one of those". Just mark them under the hybrid category and move on. CS_TBL said it best in his reply.

Re: 808 State - In Your Face
There's no anti-american sentiment in that track. You just don't know the history behind it. The quote comes from one of Aistair Cooke's "Letters from America" radio shows on the BBC which were his reports on the cultural experiences of America for a British audience. Before he moved to America he d...

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey
I don't know where this silly idea that the original MS-20s used prices have gone down comes from either. Wishful thinking? They still range between 1.2k to 2.5k depending on model, condition and what comes with it.. original patch sheets, case, cables, whatever. That's more or less been the going p...

Re: MicroBrute - How awesome is it?
owning both I honestly find them to be pretty different. clearly there is some sonic relationship and overlap, but I often find times where I will dial in sounds on the microbrute that I wouldn't even think of on the mini. I wouldn't say that the mini has a wider palette ..what I would say is that o...

Re: Gear used on 'Construction Time Again & 'Some Great Rewa
Vastly different albums. The 2600 has been on all their records. Construction Time Again's sound relies heavily on the Synclavier, Emu Emulator I, and PPG Wave more than anything. They and Daniel consider it to be a concept record focused around sampling which was still a young concept at the time. ...

Re: Synth Defects - Ticking Time Bombs
Korg ESX-1 and EMX-1 have a fuse that often blows and and its in a chip so is hard to replace outside of doing a hack job with a soldered fuse or a bypass. FWIW ... I did a bypass and haven't had an issue since then (5 years). Korg Poly-800 and Korg microX have shoddy terminals for the a/c adapter c...
