Thanks for the replies, that glossary looks like essential reading and I'll dive into to it after work. :) But, just to be on the safe side, if I was to use that sequencer with a Synth that takes CV, is there potential to damage it if I do a shody job building the sequencer? Okay so i went to the store today and downloaded the impOSCAR demo as well as ASIO4ALL onto an acer aspire one

I gotta say it didn't work too well :? , the sound kept clipping a lot and holding notes i didn't press :( ... Is this something an audio interface would fix?

okay so i went to best buy and asked the computers guy if i could come with my korg nano and download a vst or two (probably the imposcar demo), he said it shouldn't be a problem

i'm thinking of trying out the acer aspire (copy th0mas' rig :P)

so i guess i know what i'm doing tomorow :D

wow thanks for all the replies so quickly my use of the laptop would really be to run one synth at a time, probably something like the M-Tron or impOSCAR, as standalones..nothing fancy :P oh and th0mas, that's one h**l of a portable rig you got going there as for trying out a test model that sounds ...

scratch that, i went to order my micron today (i can't wait to get it) and the yamaha was 120$ canadian :D going to have to wait until the micron is paid off first though
