Re: Gear Trading Thread

Interested in doing a straight trade: my microKorg for your Minibrute. The Korg is in good shape, smoke-free studio, and has the original power supply and mic. I'm in Denver.

Re: MG-1 VS rogue?

I got my MG1 because, at the time, the cheapest Rogue I could find was $700 (I think at least $200 of that was the word 'MOOG' clearly visible on the back). I've come to love my MG1, despite its cheap plastic parts and Radio Shack aesthetic, and the little polychip sound comes in useful every now an...

Re: soundflower usage question?

When I use Soundflower, I often find that it works best when I capture samples with Audacity, then save to file and import (rather than trying to capture right in the DAW...for some reason I have not the best luck with that). For what it's worth...

Re: CS-15 question

I thought my CS15 was totally broken, because it would never shut up, always droned the last note I pressed. Oh yeah, I went through that droning when I first started messing with this thing..."why the h**l won't this shut up?!" :) Thanks for the glide-bass idea, though - the glide is definitely a ...

Re: CS-15 question

DERP! Bitexion, you're totally right, several gold stars. In my dark studio, I had the VCO glide depths turned all the way left, thinking this = off; of course, it doesn't, straight up = off (aka 0). I turn them both to 0 and that little attack mostly disappears. So...operator error. Thanks for the ...

Re: CS-15 question

There's the multi-triggering yes, but it could also be the Glide parameter on the oscillators. The "Glide" function isn't for portamento, but rather a separate pitch envelope for each VCO. If it's set to anything but 0 the pitch will jump a little up or down before resting on the actual pitch, how ...

CS-15 question

Just got my grubby mitts on one of these, but I'm new to this synth, so maybe someone has an answer for this: it's in great shape, no drifting VCOs or anything, but I do notice that every key press produces a slight percussive attack...especially annoying when I'm trying to play legato and I don't w...

RE: Electrix gear MIDI question

Thanks to a recent VSE deal I now have a FilterFactory, joining my WarpFactory, MoFx, and a Lexicon fx unit in a rack. I love Electrix's products, and for the first time today I thought I'd set them up for some DAW sequencing (historically I've only used midi clock for these guys). But...ho, what's ...

Re: Live Sound! For better or for worse.

One time we played after a band we were friends with. They brought their practice PA which would have been fine as a purely vocal PA, but someone stupidly decided that in the tiny bar they needed to mic the drums as well.. so they blew their own PA in an hour's set. We get on and have to rig up the...

Re: Live Sound! For better or for worse.

I wouldn't suggest you add more gear to your mix, instead try to make sure each component is doing a decent job. The more gear you have, the more things that can go wrong on stage, and the more things you need to think about when you're up there and debug where a c**p sound is coming from. -Wise co...

Re: Live Sound! For better or for worse.

Thanks for the replies...I've got some shows coming up at some friendly venues, I might take that opportunity to try some new stuff. Actually, sometimes that's half the fun of playing live, it seems, trying new stuff, bringing new gear, seeing what happens.
