Re: A Synth nerds existential crisis.
Given your obvious preferences, I wouldn't bother trying to get some new synth to try to make sound like the old DCO synths you crave... If you go the Roland route, be sure to budget the controller. The Akai's probably aren't what you want . The VCOs in the AX-60 disqualify it and the AX-80 doesn't ...

OB-8, CS-15, MS-20
Buying regrets:
MS-2000, JX-10, Multitrak (although the Multitrak only because it's never worked properly and is not a reflection of the synth itself)

Re: SCI Multitrak Problems
OK, I held down program record and pressed 8 and only track 2 sounds... I can scroll through different patches and they appear to be working (i.e. the lights over the tracks light up), but there is no sound- even on track 2. Then I opened it up to see what battery was in there and it was actually re...

Re: SCI Multitrak Problems
Actually, this synth was like this when I got it and I replaced the battery with what was in there. I will try the test and see if that is what the problem is. Thanks!

Re: SCI Multitrak Problems
Sorry, that quote is referring to what happens on start up it counts through as if it is tuning... But it will also do this randomly while I was trying to get different patches to work or changing parameters.

SCI Multitrak Problems
My multitrak has some major issues... It won't sound patches except one in unison mode for some odd reason and if you try to change a patch that isn't sounding it won't make a difference and still will not make a sound. I did some online digging around and found this quote "If instead the instrument...

Akai S-950 replacement drives
My floppy drive on my S950 crapped out on me. I can't find anything on the internet except people with broken floppy drives for this thing! If anyone knows where I could find a replacement, that would be awesome... I was hoping Route 66 would have them, but they only have S900 replacements. I even b...

Re: Beginner's Synth?
If the other Moog's have anywhere near as good of a manual as the Micromoog, I think it's a great way to learn synthesis. The Micromoog manual had excercises and everything! And the 1 osc, 1 filter, etc. design made it easy as I can imagine to see how each part impacts the sound. (for instance, the ...

Re: $100 to blow at Guitar Center
I'm sure I've mentioned this stuff before on here, but if you're going the DSS-1 route, does it come with floppy discs? That's a big plus to have some preloaded discs to get you started. I actually can't imagine if I would have gotten it without sample discs if I would've even bothered keeping and l...

Re: Those embaressing questions
But seriously, I have a couple of these patchbays that came with this 2 page insert (I wouldn't even call it a manual): http://www.blackswampaudio.com/PDF/388.pdf and it told me all I ever needed to know. I don't even know how I lived without patchbays. And if you can figure out presets you should b...
