Re: Differences between Alesis Ion and Micron?

I'm afraid I haven't seeing as the only gear I have is an Alesis QS 6.1 and an old Clavinova...oh, and the fact that I'm 16. Other than that, however, I know exactly where you're coming from!

Why don't you buy a Micron though? I've heard that thing is tiny...

Differences between Alesis Ion and Micron?

Besides the size, of course. How easy is the Micron to program/edit vs. the Ion? I'm a bit new at using synthesizers in general...do you think there is much of a difference? I would like it to be fairly easy to program and edit, despite the fact that I imagine I'll only be doing pretty basic things ...

Roland SH-201 or Alesis Ion?

This would mainly be for classic rock/prog rock covers, writing my own songs, and perhaps a bit of dabbling in electronica. Which do you think is better?

FIGHT!

I'm looking for a synth to replicate old 70's sounds...

Has to be polyphonic. I don't care whether it's real or fake analog. Preferably cheap (of course). I've heard the Alesis Ion is good for this sort of thing...can anyone comment on that? Think like...Funeral for a Friend by Elton John, early Prog-Rock (although the Mellotrons will be covered by my so...

Yeah, plus I bet I could get some crazy effects by doubling up the onboard with the module :p

Where would I keep this module for easy access while I'm gigging? Would I need two or could I plug both into one?

Hmm..I thought the onboard effects (both of which have plenty to speak of) would have sufficed. I originally just thought of having the two synths would have sufficed (this isn't really a big time thing--maybe when I start playing bigger venues I could upgrade but I just need a basic setup for now)....

Is that something that could be brought/accessed easily while playing gigs? I don't think I would have any problems adding effects in recording.

Yeah, plus, I can always just get sawtooths, triangles, squares, etc, and just alter them to suit what I'm doing...it seems pretty versatile.

Classic rock and modern rock stuff...covers and original. I'm pretty set on the Nord (it's a pretty fantastic piece of gear), I was more asking about the Ion.

I'm 16 and beginning to gig...does this rig sound good?

Yeah, I'm kinda associated with a few bands, and while none of them are ready for a dedicated keyboard player (grr) I figured it is time to upgrade from my terrible Alesis QS6.1. I'm pretty sure I'm buying Nord Electro 2 (72 key) and an Alesis Ion, as well as one reverb pedal for them to share (neit...

Alesis Ion Question

Oh, also, I was wondering if you were, say, using the Alesis Ion, you are able to just hit a sawtooth lead or a triangle or something and just tweak it, versus using one of their presets?
