Re: Ensoniq SQ-80 Front Panel Button Problems - Please Help
More information please. Describe the data on the display screen. Do SOME of the panel buttons work? Does the synth make sounds based on the keys pressed? Sounds to me (from afar!) like a combination of dirty connectors and worn out buttons.

Re: Kawai K3m - missing rare part. does anyone make custom pieces? (Update)
They are rectifiers. They do turn AC into DC. You may have to do alot of digging in vintage part suppliers to find that shape (4 leads inline). With care, you can substitute modern 2x2 lead (square) ones. The stuff on the spaceers is glue to hold against any vibrations. Best of luck. Let us know how...

Re: ESQ-1 behaving strangely, any help would be appreciated
Number one problem with ESQ-1, and SQ-80 seems to be bad contact on the cables. Open the synth up, unseat cables one at a time (draw yourself a diagram to show which way each connector goes - several can be put on backwards , or one pin off) use DeOxIt liquid (bottle with brush) on each connector, t...

Re: Ensoniq SQ80 Display Panel Issues
Hi. My guess is the 6500 chip: the originals were VERY static sensitive and the slightest jolt will kill it. Rainer Buchty now makes a kit with a modern MPU to replace the 6500. Guy's a lifesaver. http://WWW.BUCHTY.NET click on Ensonic Heaven click on Ensonic Shoppe WARNINGS (1) you will need some s...

Re: JX3P Top Panel? Anyone know where to find?
(1) keep posting on Facebook - Synth Freaks, etc.
(2) not cheap, but AUDIOCUSTOM.pl does a D&%^ good job of repainting and re lettering synth panels. Shipping to Poland should be reasonable if you just sent the metal panel. They are a good bit cheaper than places in the US.

Re: Need help/advice - Yamaha CS-70M (Bad Condt)
DO NOT plug it in and turn it on !! If you want to keep and use it, or sell for a reasonable fee, expect to spend 5-10k$: ship it to a synth restorer who has knowlege of the CS-70. NOT some guy who used to sell CB radios and branched out. If you don't want to keep it, consult an expert for a approx....

Re: Ensoniq Sq80 display
Well, the old geezer was having a senior moment. Sorry for the bad advice: the SQ-80 and ESQ-1 DO NOT have inverters to generate the high voltage for the display. They use a voltage-tripler on the power supply. I was thinking og the Roland JX series.

These are used, so may have the original pin layout you need. Syntaur is 100% reputable by me.

picked up a dusty Korg 800DV in a local repair shop. No output, but (1) quick inspection shows all board in place, (2) all knobs and slider caps still there.

not much from afar:
I got a busted '60 sometime back, could not load all patches. Some would load ok, some would remain the same, a few would load, but weird.
corosion, or something had eated one pin off of one of the memory chips.

Re: Yamaha DX7 Powers up, not much else
A good capacitor meter is $$$. They use a series of pulses to tell if the cap is shorted or not. Using a ohm meter on the cap will not give a accurate reading because of all the other componets in the circuit. Carefuly unsolder one side (lead) of a Tantallium cap (one at a time) and see if change or...
