Re: Polymoog 203A Restoration - You Got to Love Spaghetti!!

Just like Will’s Polymoog it has slowly come to life from one test and fault finding cycle to another and after pulling all the Polycom cards out and trimming the keyboard dynamics which were way out it is all starting to happen. It is now playable for the first time and I ran her up for a couple o...

Re: Yamaha CS80's "wiggling" keys?

And there are no modern keyboards that have this feature? Well, if you feel adventurous and have the space, you could pick up one of the late '70s Yamaha organs with touch vibrato. I have an E70 and it's monstrous! Got it for £200 (from the UK). The touch vibrato is very expressive, and when it's r...

Re: Yamaha E50 has arrived :-)

It would be certainly possible to provide basic MIDI input (Key On/Off). Excellent! :D However, poly pressure would be difficult, as my board is going to replace keyscan chip, but leaving old voice assigner (called "Channel processor"/"CLP" by Yamaha). So there is no way to assign pressure value to...

Re: Yamaha E50 has arrived :-)

Just spotted this thread - good to see you're working on the E50 again! I have one question to E-70 owners (drfunk?). What is range of pitch control knob located in preset drawer? Not much! I just tested my E70 with an A440 8' flute, and the pitch range is 3.7 cents down and 47.2 cents up. I've also...

Re: Prophet 5 vs Jupiter 6?

I have a JP6 with Europa recently installed, and a Prophet 5 rev 2 with MIDI, and they complement each other very well. The JP6 is really flexible and ultra reliable - I've had mine for 12 years with zero issues. But for warm organic sounds and textures, Prophet 5 all the way! I'm not sure how a rev...

Re: SDCard HxC Floppy Emulator for vintage samplers

Hmm, I did a search for 'hxc' to make sure I wasn't just repeating old info, and nothing showed up.

Well, at least the P2000 support is new info! :)

SDCard HxC Floppy Emulator for vintage samplers

I haven't seen this mentioned here yet, so it may be of interest to owners of the samplers listed below. I'm getting one of these for my Prophet 2000 - they just added the P2000 a couple of months ago, and after asking in the forum, I was told that it's got full read/write support! SDCard HxC Floppy...

Re: Will this destroy my board!??!

Yes, it can be done, but I don't know if it would cause damage to your SH201. I know that it's an old Minimoog trick, and can really make the Mini scream. I've also tried it with a Yamaha CS15 with interesting, but less than spectacular results. I asked my tech about possible damage, and he said tha...

Re: Service manual resource? Yamaha Electone E-70

Check that the 'Upper Plus Lower' coupler switch is not on. It's just below the master volume, and it switches the lower voices to the upper keyboard for layering. Pretty cool actually - very similar to the CS80.

Re: Patchbay question - CV/Trigger etc...

I'd like to hear some thoughts on this too - I posted recently on this subject but didn't get any replies. I want to use Silent Way (see this thread) and a 1/4" patchbay for CV/gate etc would be very useful - if it would work without blowing my gear up...

Cheers

CV/gate patchbay and Silent Way

I've just started experimenting with Silent Way and my CS15, and I'm loving it! It's my first step into CV/gate territory and it's really opening my eyes to the creative possibilities. I had been planning to get MIDI-CV conversion and a hardware CV/gate step sequencer, but I think Silent Way's Step ...
