Now this isn't mine, but I thought it worth posting the link, since it's such a great machine in amazing condition:

USB Floppy Emulators (not HxC) on a Roland S-330?

Hi, With the impending arrival of my Roland S-330 sampler, I'm wondering if it's possible to use one of the cheap(ish) USB floppy emulators (as seen on eBay) as a replacement drive? This is the sort of thing I'm looking at (I have no connection to the seller, or anything): http://cgi.ebay.com.au/3-5...

Director-S for the Roland S-330?

Hi Guys, I'm currently awaiting the arrival of my first ever rack/module - a nice Roland S-330... :-) Up until now, I've only ever felt comfortable with keyboards - I used to have an S-50 and loved it! I've read a bit about the excellent Director-S software and have heard rumblings about there being...

Roland XP-30 117V model runs fine on 240V?!

Hi, I've just picked up an XP-30 (very nice machine) which was originally purchased in Taiwan and so has an Asian 117V mains power-rating on the unit , along with a US-type power plug. However the previous owner had been running it on the normal Australian 240V mains (using a simple plug adaptor (no...

Duran / Arcadia: What synth or sampler made these sounds?

Hi, This has been driving me nuts for ages, so I thought I'd field the question on this auspicious forum! One of my favourite Arcadia songs is "Goodbye Is Forever", even though it sounds like Simon Le Bon is actually singing "Goodbye EARS forever" :-) Anyway, there are a couple of sounds used in the...

How well would JX-8P patches 'translate' to the D-50?

Hi, Would it be possible to translate some of the patches from the Roland JX-8P to the D-50 (using Synth Structure 1), since the signal-path architecture appears to be comparable... I'm not talking about MIDI sysex data, or anything like that, it would obviously have to be hands-on... Just wondering...

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?

He He! An ARP Pro-Soloist for $5 (Australian)! Got it at a Sunday flea-market... I saw the classic "ARP" logo and rushed over, expecting a price tag of a couple of hundred! The bloke selling it bought it from a garage sale for his kids (also for $5!) but was disappointed to find it had no built-in s...

Crumar Peformer - how to clean / fix the sliders?

Hi, I've just picked up a very nice Crumar Performer, but a number of the sliders are a little bit 'sticky' and less than smooth in operation - the unit hasn't been used for a long time... I was wondering if any knows the best way to clean/service the sliders to make them smooth again, or failing th...
