Freight Train - remix
I don't think I've posted a whole lot of music on VSE, so here goes... This is an industrial remix of a track called 'Freight Train' I completed recently for a friend of mine:

Re: How do you start your composing?
My compositions usually start by working with improvising a bass synth line or something atmospheric either on my Virus, Jp8000, a Vst synth or combinations of all three. These simple improvised lines can lead you down a path to other great ideas. Accidents here count as well... I've managed to come...

MS2000 vs MS2000B
So I'm on a path to purchase an MS2000. Are there differences between the MS2000 and MS2000B I should be aware of? Comparing specs between the two, I can't seem to find anything that makes the MS2000B superior. Are there firmware or os level things they did with the MS2000B to make it better?

Re: Drum vst recommendations?
I use Sonic Charge MicroTonic (uTonic) on a lot of my tracks. This is a drum synth, so no samples. It'll do a lot of really cool stuff that you can tweak to fit the track you're working on. Also check out the Patternarium on the sonic charge website. Magnus just released version 3.0 of uTonic: http:...

Re: JP8000: battery low! (message at powerup)
Thanks for sharing that link. The procedure to replace the battery went well - there are a lot of screws on the bottom of the JP8000! Thankfully, they are all the same so i didn't have to draw a picture/map of where they all go. Roland used a little spring mounted clip for the battery, so it was ver...

JP8000: battery low! (message at powerup)
I just noticed today that my jp8000 throws up a quick "BATTERY LOW" message on the lcd screen. Have any other Jp8000 owners here seen this? Is this something I can replace or do I need to find a repair shop? I hope its just a simple flat battery like the ones you put on a computer mainboard. I think...

Energy - remix: music for working on computers
I wrote this song quite some time ago using Live and an older pc I had at the time. Last weekend, i decided to remix it using my newer (but not brand new) dual core system:

Control surface - Korg nanoKontrol or Novation Nocturn?
Thinking about trying either a Korg NanoKontrol or a Novation Nocturn. I can get either one for around $50 here locally as there is a second hand Nocturn for about $45. I know the Novation automap is probably superior and all, but the Nocturn seems to me that it's leaning towards a DJ style controll...

Re: Drum Machine
The Yamaha ry30 is pretty cool, and they're not too expensive used. You can get lots of weird noises stacking different voices, detuning, filtering, and using the envelope generator on them. Not a lot of outputs - just 1 stereo pair, and 2 extra assignable outs. Maybe slightly more expensive that so...

Virus TI and TI2 question
So i'm back looking at the Virus Ti again, and noticed there's a new one called the Ti2. Aside from processing power and the redesigned metal/plastic case, is there anything else different about the Ti2 when comparing to the original Ti? I can't seem to locate anything definitive that tells me "...a...

Image Line Autogun VSTi - it's free right now
I was just checking out the audio demos of this - it sounds pretty unique, and has a LOT of presets:

They claim there are 4294967296 presets. I just installed it on my system, and it seems pretty good so far.

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?
I just bought this earlier today for $120.00 - I shortened my lunch at work today so I could run out and go pick it up. It's a Yamaha DX200, and it makes some lovely whacked out FM squelchy noises. I had a minor issue with the data encoder. That was promptly taken care of with contact cleaner: http:...

Re: VA Softsynth vst's or Virus TI?
I don't see any combinations of the V-Synth and Powercore either. I'm assuming that you're referring to the V-Station plugin for Powercore as that's the only synth close to what you described that runs on powercore within the $250 price range.
