Yeah, I highly recommend the Yen releases, also worth looking into is Hosono's Non-Standard imprint that carried on after Yen.whirlbird wrote:
Also, if Hosono and Takahashi were producing everything on that label, I should really check out more of it. Good stuff.

Re: Anyone listen to Testpattern (funky Japanese 80s synths)
Haruomi Hosono produced their only full length from '82, and the few remaining non album tracks from Testpattern all came out in Hosono-related releases, mainly the Apogee & Perigee collab album (with Hosono, Miharu Koshi, Jun Togawa and others) all of which came out on Alfa's imprint label YEN. I b...

Re: Going price for a JX-3P and PG-200
I bought a JX-3P (without the PG200) last week for $400. Everything works minus a dead battery so no saving of custom patches. Programming with the slider is actually quite easy after just looking at the 'edit map' a few times. It's numbered very intuitively so you learn it quickly. I also like how ...

Re: Prophet 6
What a lovely surprise. My only gripe is that it's only 49 keys. I do however understand the reasoning for/why. NAMM this year has been huge, I'm a teeny bit mad at myself for not registering this year only because it was in Anaheim again and I didn't want to make the drive out there.

Re: Why are Casio CZ synth prices so high?
I had put up my CZ-5000 on Craigslist last year, for a few months, listed it at $200 but nobody even inquired.
It is tedious to program, but yeah, you can get cool sounds out of it.

Re: How many of you still have your first synth?
I still have my first synth, a Casio CZ-5000. I enjoyed it quite a lot before I got into analog synths. I'm gonna sell it soon though, since it is just sitting in the closet. I had a cz5000. Its an interesting synth, I need to try and replicate some of the weird envelope generator patches on the bl...

Re: Prophet 5 voice card/chip/cap problem...
I also would highly recommend Greg. If the filter works on a voice but one of the VCOs does not it could be a dead CEM3340 VCO chip. I have them in stock. Yeah, if I decide to get it serviced, Greg seems to the best guy in CA for this. I'm not sure if I explained it right originally, but the louder...

Re: Prophet 5 voice card/chip/cap problem...
I dunno about the second guy, but I'd trust Greg M. at analogsynthservice with anything. He did a great job with an Arp Odyssey I had for a little while. I'd drop him a line and see what he can do for you. Since it's a Prophet 5, you'd want to pack it very very well, perhaps consider buying a hard ...

Prophet 5 voice card/chip/cap problem...
I bought a Prophet 5 rev 3.0 this past July. Initially I had some j-wire problems, mainly re-triggering keys. I was able to fix this temporarily by cleaning the j-wire and busbar. A few hours ago, I noticed that when I played chords that only 1 note that would be built from a, say for example, 5 not...

Re: YMO Lead
No one has mentioned the name of the song OP was asking about, so it is: Cosmic Surfin' from their debut album "Yellow Magic Orchestra" 1978.
