You can get an Ion for under 600. I got mine for around 400.

Re: Reverse key color keyboards

I like to scheme of the Farfisa pro organs- it very futurist in such a way that it's outdated and cheesy looking, which gives it charm.

Re: Advice on the Nord Electro 2 - please help

Light years ahead of the abortion that korg produces to rival it. Gotta disagree with you there, if you're referring to the SV-1. I too was not expecting much from the Korg but then one showed up as backline at a gig I did in Norway a few months ago (along with a really nice real Hammond C3 and twi...

Re: Advice on the Nord Electro 2 - please help

I love my Electro 2, I think it sounds great. I will agree that the outputs are a bit quieter than my other synths, though. Beefing the sound up with a tube pre isnt a bad idea. I run my Electro 2 through a Mesa Boogie guitar amp and it brings so much life to it- I've used the amp with the rhodes, w...

Yeah I like the look of the Gaia. I just wish it weren't white, I'm not a fan of white synths.

In fact, the Gaia looks better than it sounds :P

Synths in the City

Welp folks I'm taking a weekend trip to NYC in late September, and I'm moving there in October. Are there any good places to see in NY regarding synths/vintage keyboards? Any good museums, shops, studios, etc that I should make a point to stop and see while I"m there for a weekend?

Re: Stereo MemoryMan w Hazarai or TimeFactor?

This thread is inspiring me to bring out my MMwH again. The Boss RE-20 is my go to delay but I think I do need to bring some weirdness back into my sound. Thanks

Re: Synthesizer with Marshall amplifier

I see sm57's used on cabs in the studio, and occasionally live, but for live use the sm58 typically wins. never seen an sm58 on a cab at any of the studios i've been in. Me, personally? I use an sm57 couples with a senn 421 on guitars. If I don't run my synth DI, I run it through a good tube amp mic...

Re: Are the old Electribes getting more expensive/respected?

You're probably right- I bought an Electribe sMKII about a year and a half ago for $100. I just sold it saturday night on Craigslist for $180.

Although I am about to buy an EA-1 for only $60 :D

Re: Microphones

Getting ready to buy a pair of Sennheiser 451's, and I think a new vocal mic.

Looking for a good vocal mic below $1000, above $200. Basically, I need something better than the NT1A.

I like the AKG414 but I really don't think I can justify $1000 on one right now.

Suggestions?

Re: I've tried every softsynth - the best one is...

I love Gforce's stuff, everything from Mtron to Minimonsta, which is by far the best moog softsynth available. I haven't used imposcar bet, but i'm sure its as good as their other products.
