Samplers making me angry (S1000, A5000)

Ok so I have an Akai S1000 and Yamaha A5000. The S1000 has been around for a while, the A5000 is "new". Turned everything on today and: The S1000 is not giving me the option to choose new sample in the sample edit window. I can record, but it will playback, say, the Sine wave if that is the one sele...

Re: Mangler vs H3000DSE/Eclipse

Thanks for your input. I'm trying to do something which I know seems a bit nuts: stop buying and thinking about buying gear. I currently have no (good) modulation effects so I am being a bit more obsessive than I should be. Because once I have them, I want to be done. Except for another synthesizer ...

Re: Mangler vs H3000DSE/Eclipse

I'd be going for a mangler and an eclipse. :) Oh the answer is always to spend more money, isn't it? ;) I have a compact hardware-only setup with limited AUXes so I have to keep with one box I think. I do prefer the eventide sound personally though. In what way? Is it that you prefer the algorithms...

Re: Mangler vs H3000DSE/Eclipse

Thanks for the comment. I know that Eventide is amazing. I have just read a lot of positive comments on the Magler's modulation effects and general sound quality and I'm trying to get a sense, given the price difference, what more I would be getting with the Eventide. My guesses are (1) a dual-block...

Re: Roland VP-330 Human Voice Filter

Agreed. Reading through this thread, I thought all that was left to do was sort out the gain-staging issues towards making the box a little more practical. You definitely were/are on to something. Perhaps you should not worry about duplicating the 330 exactly but rather use the design that you have ...

Mangler vs H3000DSE/Eclipse

I have a few nice reverbs and delays and am ready to start thinking about chorus/flange/phase, pitch-shifting, etc. I know that there is a huge benefit to Eventide when one goes for the modular devices from the DSP series and beyond, but at the lower price points, without that functionality, I'm cur...

Re: Roland VP-330 Human Voice Filter

OK. Thanks. I don't know how to DIY. I was just checking to see if you had reached a point where you were happier with the design. The VP330 choir sound is a special one. I was hoping I might find a way to get my hands on it without using samples or having to save up for a real VP330.

Re: Roland VP-330 Human Voice Filter

Is the hardware box still being worked on or are all your efforts now in software?

Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.

Prophet 600 stupidity: 1) $1,750 BIN! 130533261664 2) $900 BIN would be more reasonable except that the broken knobs and key don't inspire much in the way of confidence. 170653594248 3) $1,000 BIN (though open to bidding) but what gets me is the following statement: "Needs some work so therefore I s...

Re: ESQ-1 Pitch Wheel and Key Issues

There is. Usually I am set up to avoid such things but between the hard reset on the ESQ-1 and the fact that my sequencer wasn't set up properly (as I wasn't planning on recording) there is a good chance that that is what is going on. I guess I just wasn't thinking of it as I was just sitting around...

Re: ESQ-1 Pitch Wheel and Key Issues

I ended up taking the thing into a repair shop and getting everything taken care of. There's still one issue. Sometimes, I am only getting four voices. I mentioned this to the tech and he said he couldn't find that problem. I didn't either when I tested the board in the shop before paying for the re...

OK! ;-) It's just... even if it is half-broken, it might be cheaper to repair than waiting on eBay... I'm just going to pretend this never happened...

A bit old but this ad (Jup4 for $650 in Nashville) is driving me nuts... if only I could make it down there somehow...

Re: ESQ-1 Pitch Wheel and Key Issues

Just following up. I ended up just "pushing" a little harder and getting the new pots on the new brackets in the new housing into the old case. When I was doing the work last night I forgot that I had to actually take the pots off the brackets and so I tried to install the new pots and brackets into...
