Re: just bought yamaha sk20 - hate it! help

Alright: 1) The SK-20 is paraphonic, but that should have anything to do with the organ volume, it should only cause the kind of effect you are mentionning for a) the EG b) the Percussion. 2) The Logan String Melody and Korg Lambda are not paraphonic in that sense: the Logan has an enveloppe for eac...

Congrats on the purchase!

Multivox has ripped off Roland and other companies in many of their designs, but also made some of their own.

Re: Pink noise vs White Noise

Tekkentool, that's what i fear the most: the particular rendition of pink noise on the M500, again with the traveler, was just amazing, and now i'll have to get my hands on one again! If anyone see one for sale, get back to be ASAP, i'd be willing to give up my SK-20 for that. Thanks for your input ...

Pink noise vs White Noise

I miss my Korg M500, while lots of folks diss this little wonder of a compact preset analog synth, i miss it a lot. While i had lots of fun with the melodic sounds i could get out of it, i have yet to find a hands-on, huge pink noise like this little feller has. The Traveler control added to it's tw...

Sounds made easy : SR-JV80-04 and 08

Hey everybody, Finally got my hands on a Roland XP-50 and two expansion boards : Vintage Synth and Classic keys of the 60's and 70's. While the interface is puzzling me write now (i don't care so much since i won't be using most of the functions for now), i got to say that yesterday's first try real...

Re: Electric piano recommendation

I strongly suggest you look for a Crumar/Univox Compact Piano, they come cheap, are well built, and will sound like lot's of e-piano, just not like wurly or rhodes. You also have earlier synth with piano presets such as the Elka Rhapsody 610, you get decent piano and clavichord + an amazing string s...

Re: New Vintage : Korg SV-1

So did anyone actually try one recently? But yeah i guess we have to understand that first and foremost this just isn't a synth. More like a sampler with classic sounds on it. The tube does look more like a fetish then a real enhancement of the sound output, in the end it's all a matter of what you ...

Re: Resist buying, save up for the big one

HAHAHAHA Totally feel your pain Druzz, did you get that Minikorg after all? Right now i'm think of getting rid of my CS-15D to finance the purchase of a XP-50 with the SR JV-04 an SR JV-08 expansion boards. But you have to keep your head cool about all the great synths that are out there and will su...

Re: MG-1 VS rogue?

Original Jambo: I liked it very much. There was a Logan (i keep thinking Lowrey hehehe ) String Melody I in dire need for love that i could have add for 60$ CAD but i let it pass because i'm tired of repairs and maintenance and wanted to wait to buy a Meloy II. I hate myself for doing this because i...

Re: New Vintage : Korg SV-1

Rompler or not, the demos are very convincing and the idea of driving it with a tube seems legit to me, i've always prefered synths to go through my vintage guitar rig then straight to PA. I really wish i could afford this bad boy, i'm becoming less and less of a knob tweeker, and am looking more an...

Re: Poll: Vintage String Synth Battle Royale

I sort of cheated. I don't really have a "favorite string synth sound." I just voted for the one whose functionality and resultant sound coupled with its delicious aesthetic tickles my fancy. Nerd. Speaking of cheating, string synths which also include other sorts of synths aren't fair! (I'm lookin...

Poll: Vintage String Synth Battle Royale

The discussion thread has been active for quite a few months now and i think it's time we all put our money where our mouth is. Pick one, pick once, pick wisely (as this is most probably the one life-defining choice you will make, EVER) I think the ones i put up here are the most popular ones, sorry...

Re: String Synth Battle Royale: Yamaha SK vs Roland RS vs ???

Hey Druzz, i'm still waiting for the info on how to send you the money for the reverb pedal. The RS-09 is cool mainly because it's compact, but if you want real good string sounds i say look else were, it's rather thin IMHO. If your looking for real beefy string sounds check out the Elka Rhapsody 61...

Re: MG-1 VS rogue?

I just wanted to learn to use Motion in order to make it fancy. WHAT!!? You mean the previous demos were NOT fancy?!?!? Then i guess the MG-1 demo will be forsaken to my eyes, they would melt from all the fancyness! Hehehe I get you point on reverbs and delays, but i'm still cool wit...
