Re: What was the worst synthesizer you've ever owned?
Yamaha DX9 - embarrassed to even admit owning it (though I was young and stupid when I bought it new) - practically unusable; all the challenges of FM with added limitations

Re: Which synthesizer(s) do you regret getting or selling
Regret buying:
Alesis Quadrasynth - what was I thinking? Thankfully, long gone
DX9 - uggh! practically unusable; all the frustrations of FM with none of the rewards ... (I was 18 and thought it was just as good as the DX7 and cheaper
Regret selling:
Nord Rack 2x - needed the cash

Re: cheap interesting synths
SY77... goes for the same or less than any DX7 (Unless the DX7 is a beat up mk1). Awesome synth, very capable of many feats and does it with class and power. I got mine for ~£100 so it fits in this bracket easily. It's also a 'secret weapon'. Same applies to the 99 of course but that's a bit big fo...

Re: DX7 key replacement - any helpful info?
Many thanks for all that, Pro5. Extremely helpful - especially for a key replacement novice like me.
I'll let you know how it turns out. With any luck, I won't do too much damage in the process ...

Re: DX7 key replacement - any helpful info?
Thanks. I figured it was something along those lines. I opened the top of the case, and the key itself is solid though flat and loose - though I couldn't remove it from above. Do I need to go at it from the bottom of the keybed?

DX7 key replacement - any helpful info?
The C#4 on my very beat-up DX7 is stuck in the down position. If I manually pick it up and let it down, it plays and sustains. I assume it's just a busted spring or something similar. Since I've never attempted a key repair / replacement before, does anyone have any pointers on the best way to go ab...

Re: TG/SY77 High Contrast Blue Replacement LCD Module
Great stuff - love the cool blue! My SY77 has come down with the same damn LCD issue that every 77 develops sooner or later. Going blind trying to read the display! As an owner of both a DX7 and a SY77 (and a former owner of a DX7IIFD), I agree that the SY77 deserves every bit as much praise as the ...
