Re: Anyone here upgraded DSI EVOLVER KEYBD to the POT versio
There's no soldering involved with the DSI Pot replacement. With the PEK at least, you will receive new circuit boards with the Pots already attached to replace the existing ones. All you need is a phillips screwdriver and the ability to read the simple instructions that come with the kit. :) They e...

Re: Old keyboard contacts/repair
In case anyone's interested: I cleaned out the whole PCB contact area along the keyboard with 100% Isopropyl alcohol, as well as the rubber contact strips by rinsing them in water with some dishwashing soap. The good news: the rubber strip for the original faulty key was not damaged by de-oxit. The ...

Re: Old keyboard contacts/repair
Update: I was preparing to start working on the JX-3P, so I turned it on to ensure I had the exact keys that needed work, and lo and behold all keys are working. I guess the de-oxit evaporated and the contacts are good. I'm still planning to open it up and clean the rubber part thoroughly. I aslo no...

Re: Old keyboard contacts/repair

Deoxit will damage the rubber.. thats what i used and i found out the hard way It may just be dust on the contacts. I had an sh-101 in for repair yesterday for exactly...

Re: Old keyboard contacts/repair
Thanks Rhino! I'll open 'er up and have a look. As for the sandpaper trick, this would be for the pcb contacts, right? I don't think I want to sandpaper inside the rubber cups!

Old keyboard contacts/repair
Hi all, I have a Roland JX-3P synth with an F# black key that would only sound if I pressed really hard (making it impossible to actually play and sound). So I took the keys off (I'm familiar enough with this synth to open it up and poke around, having installed the midi-expansion kit, etc) and clea...

Re: Anyone here upgraded DSI EVOLVER KEYBD to the POT versio
Yes, DeOxit worked for a while, but then the jitterbug came back worse than ever, so I went for the Pot upgrade which I much prefer to the encoders anyway.

Re: If software synths had occured BEFORE hardware synths ..
Yes, in that world we'd be ruled by chimps, orangutans, and gorillas.....and everyone would have minimoogs, but we'd all be salivating for a rare copy of the Arturia VST!

Re: One is not enough!
The only thing I have more than one of is midi and audio cables, and even those I'll try to get different colours or brands to mix it up a bit.

Yes, that's normal for a 6R. R channel is only for split mode. Almost every 6R/6 owner goes through this panic...

Re: korg monotron vs MS-20
Or, maybe you could save that $60 and not indulge in any other impulse buys either for a while. Then you will notice that you have a bigger pile of money and you can actually get a real synthesizer . Just a thought. Unless you really need to create Star Trek original series style theremin sound eff...

Re: Are you glad synths aren't more popular?
I'm just glad that the some of these synth manufacturers pumped out enough analog synths in the 80's (especially Roland) to make it possible to still pick something up like a Juno2 or a JX-8P for <$300 today. My real wish is that synths are (falsely) proven to cause sterility and permature onset of ...
