Re: Hardware Synth prices and VSTs.

Well, assembled in the USA.... A lot of the components come from elsewhere because they are no longer made in the USA. Unless they have changed their operation, the circuit boards and enclosure are built by contracting local companies and final assembly is done at the DSI facility. That's about the...

Re: Hardware Synth prices and VSTs.

If you compare the DeepMind to a Prophet, there is a lot more involved than oscillator count. The DSI/Sequential stuff uses much better keybeds and is made in the USA by a small company in smaller quantities than Behringer. That makes it cost more. When the P5 comes out, try to A/B one with a DeepM...

Re: Hardware Synth prices and VSTs.

Yes, but the electronic part that became cheaper is the microprocessors. For awhile, the analog chips for building synths were basically not made. Now they are. but are not cheap. I have lots of VSTs and the highest CPU consumption of them come close to sounding like an analog synth... but need a co...

Re: Hardware Synth prices and VSTs.

$500 in 1999 is $750 now. $500 in 1989 is $1066 now. It goes up as you get into the early 80s due to the late 70s/early 80s inflation.

Re: Hardware Synth prices and VSTs.

there's no reason for them to ever get cheaper, or even stop getting more expensive, unless Behringer clones it... otherwise, they are desired collectibles that are shrinking in numbers due to age.

Price confirmed at $599 - I've no idea what that is in real money, but maybe around £/€550.

Much cheaper that I thought it would be. If only I could pre-order one from somewhere. :(
Thomann? nope, and not at andertons either.... hmmmm

Do you have another keyboard? Have you looked at a used Novation Nova?

Re: Setup for grime/edm

if you're running a Windows 10 PC, 8 gB is not nearly enough especially if you're loading a lot of samples. Windows itself can and will eat most of that, and if you are going something memory-intensive, it is going to be pushing parts of the OS into virtual memory. The only time i would recommend an...

You would start with something short, easy to understand and meaningful. A few suggestions are

1.Of Mice and Men
2.To Kill a Mockingbird
3. A Separate Peace
4. The Great Gatsby
5.The Turn of the Screw
Ah yes, the novels that turn most American high schoolers off of reading forever....

keep in mind that when you try to read resistors in a circuit that it may not be reading the resistor, it may take another route through the circuit.

a piece of gaffer tape on the back of the casing would cover it up, and at that resolution you would never know.

However... an N5 says N5 on the left side, and Korg on the right...
