Re: do any of you jam with other synth guys?
I'm currently living on a place with no tradition in electronic sounds or synth music whatsoever. Still, I've managed to gather a bunch of crazy lads and started jamming, and eventually we started to play live covers of songs. Each of us play one synth, with no syncing or midi control, just as we wo...

Re: March competition '15: New age-dolphin-crystal-healing s
It's best to maintain what already works, then.
In any case, I could repost the competition entries in the soundcloud group when the call is closed and the poll begins. It would work the same.

Re: March competition '15: New age-dolphin-crystal-healing s
What I was suggesting to ninja is that there is already a Soundcloud group of Vintage Synth Explorer, with almost 700 members. A good side is that it would boost the audience of the tracks posted, and it would work as much as any other group. I am the group moderator, and have recently done a big cl...

My entry is ready to go.
How should I post it?
Ninja, I've sent you a private message, tell me what you think.
Cheers.

Re: Just played with a Nord Lead 4
This is to Pro5: Thank you very much for your posts in this topic. I've had a An1x for 4 years, and I agree 110% with your thoughts. I couldn't have said it better. Maybe you should re-post these in one of the topics centered on the An1x. I've yet to play the Nord 4, but I've got plenty of experienc...

Re: Anybody got any insight into the Oberheim Matrix 6?
I've had a Matrix 6 for almost 10 years now, as well as a Matrix 1000 for about 15 years. I'll just post a few of my impressions here. Soundwise: I can't compare its sounds to Classic Oberheims, since I've never owned any. It might not sound the same as a classic Obie, but it surely holds it's place...

Re: Yamaha An1X and external midi control
I was trying to do the same thing with my An1x just a few weeks ago... I totally agree with you that, although it's perfectly possible to program the synth from it's front panel, it's not the most comfortable option. The main advantage of having a controller is, in my opinion, to get easy access to ...

Re: "Lucky Star" Bass-line
Great info. Thanks Phillip. Never thought it could be a 2600. Since we're talking about her, does anybody know what synth was used for the bassline in "Like a Prayer"? Depends on which version you're talking about. Album/Music Video Version: Randy Jackson is playing bass Shep Pettibone Remix: Minim...

Re: Stupid Korg Z1 question
Unfortunately, no. The Z1 does not have the General Midi bank... But, on the other hand, it's perfectly possible to program an entire bank of sounds and organize them in the same way as a General Midi would be. Only with a few drawbacks: 1) The Z1 can't do acoustic pianos at all - but can do many so...

Re: How to actually use Samplr
i bought and Ipad mainly because of the Samplr app. It is now my favourite sample chopping tool, but I had to find a few workarounds. Recording: The Ipad+Samplr combo cannot live without a good recorder. I simply cannot rely solely on the Ipad's microphone, except for when I'm fiddling with it. To k...

Re: iPhone app Reactable
I bought it for my Ipod Touch 4gen, but it was a bit of a letdown for me. The screen size also doesn't help. I think the Ipad version might be the one to go. If I have to stay on the Ipod/Iphone, then my vote will go to Jasuto: less colours, more fluency.

Re: Mixing software through an analog desk
My tips: Try a demo of Harrison Mixbus, a DAW that sounds pretty good to my ears. Second, try some of UADs plugins in your master mix, but for those unfortunately you'd have to buy the card. The thing is that any of these two options may be way cheaper than setting up an intermediate analog mixer al...

Re: Synapse: The Electronic Music Magazine
As soon as I started reading, I felt myself immersed in a time capsule. These magazines are from a time when synths we pay thousands of dollars today were available as readily as driving to a store. Loved the original ads, like the CS80 and Serge Modulars. The interviews are pure gold - from Kraftwe...
