Re: review of repair work - Three Wave Music
I'll contribute a vote of support for Sam @Three Wave. He diagnosed and repaired a Jupiter 6 for me, and installed a Europa mod (that I supplied), for about $480. Three week turn-around and he picked it up and delivered it (this was a couple of years ago). He also has an insane collection of gear fo...

Re: VSE - Good trader/seller thread
Just sold a Roland JP-6 to bhrama in a refreshingly fast, drama-free deal.
Also sold a Micromoog to a new member (and gearslutz regular) 3rdeyeKnight - fast payment and pleasant to deal with!

Re: New universal patch editor for Roland JX series
"as well as handle midi control of midi and sysex capable keyboards."
Seems it will be/can be expanded to control a lot more than just JX boards, which makes sense as a PG-800 is less than $300 USD.

Five minutes since I joined, and I already see a retarded post. Not a good start, VSE. Five minutes since you've joined and you're already whining? Not a good start, blake. :D You make a great point re: chromatic sampling though. I think this thing looks sick. I haven't had a hardware sampler since...

Re: MicroQ Ext Input
Anybody use it? I tried it on the Access Virus B, and the result was amazing. The MicroQ is dirty cheap these days, but what's up with the sound quality if i use the input? Is it usable as a filterbank/effect processor? Sound quality is one thing you don't have to worry about with the small Q - it'...

Re: Laptop recommendations, fall 2009
If you're looking to go with a PC, the best option (imo) is a Thinkpad T or W series. My T60p served as my only DAW for years before I recently built a desktop workstation to take it's place. High quality, great keyboards, reliable, easily serviceable if need be (though mine never required any.) Goo...

That.
That really does sound like a sick synth (or, obviously, vice-versa) - especially the first half.

Re: 4 hours in a studio!
Maybe your tracks' subtleties depend upon the ecosystem in which they were born (your setup.)
May also be that the guy/s running the studio didn't know what they were doing, or didn't take the time to hear and understand your tracks : )
Sounds like fun either way!

Re: Waldorf Largo
The four part multi/timbral Layer is a bit crooked. It does not support freely assignable preset. The four individual instruments are saved with the multi-timbral patch. In fact, the preset browsing is actually the multi browsing. I was quite puzzled when I was activating slot number two and trying...

Re: Know of any MC 303 Mods?
You could open it up and test for positive voltage at various spots.. carefully poke around and make some connections to test for bend points. I just saw a video on youtube of a bent mc-505 making some pretty harsh noise, so you might be able to have a bit of fun. (The sounds in the vid are f**k awf...

Re: $399 NI Komplete 5
I'm with LBN on this one - at that price it's a steal. NI also just released updates/beta versions of Battery and Kontakt (and possibly others - but I own those two) that enhance compatibility with 64 bit memory addressing, though I've been running them under vista 64 for a while now without too man...

Re: A nice lead on the Roland Juno 60
I was halfway through the vid still thinking the soundtrack was an intro leading into a meal, then I realized ... that was it.
Dude has some After Effects skills, though.
