Re: Controlling Yamaha FB-01 with Lexicon MRC

The ideal would be an Encore Knobby or Slide-Mate.... They might have templates ready for the FB-01.

Re: Controlling Yamaha FB-01 with Lexicon MRC

I'm no expert at all but I read the MRC Controller can't do more than 10 bytes messages...too few for any synth editing. I think the old Kawai MM16 had that same problem too.

I never tried it myself but the a Novation Remote should do it.

Re: ok to clean keyboard contacts with deoxit? (resolved)

I've heard of Electrosolve contact cleaner but never seen or used it myself.

There might also be different types sold for various applications.

Re: Peavey DPM V2 no sound

Peavey are definately helpful and provided me the schematics for the V2, just as they did for the V3 a few years ago.

I reset the machine and the 'DSP powerup' error is gone. There could be a hidden diag routine for the modules but I never heard of it .

Re: Peavey DPM V2 no sound

Thank you blueknob.... I have read your posts here regarding DPM repair and also a page detailing a DPM3 overhaul. I was wondering if that was you... http://crasno.ca/articles/PeaveyDPM3SE.htm The V2/V3 modules don't have a disk drive or built-in diagnostics mode and now I got a 'DSP Power-up failur...

Peavey DPM V2 no sound

Hello VSExlporers, The unit powers on fine but even with a battery change and reset, there is no sound. I brought it to a repair shop but they could not answer why. Every voltage checks out but there are no readings at audio switcher IC while playing the internal demo. Should I try to replace it or ...

Re: Calling on all Yamaha SY-1 Owners...can't get certain sound.

That's a great sounding solo... If you compare the controls for both, you can notice the SY2 has sliders for Highpass Fillter Frequency and Resonance. It must be what differentiates the tone between the two. I played a SY-2 for a few years but that's all I know. It was released in 1974 edit: I'm pre...

Re: The 4-op Yamaha DX synths

It becomes even more confusing when certain FM engines overlap or are compatible with others.

I used to edit a TX81z using a Yamaha DX21. Every function was alike other than the few differences between them (Pitch envelope Generator on the DX, waveform variants on the TX, etc)

Re: The 4-op Yamaha DX synths

Hi Tiger Jackson, The DX100 can work but you would be better served with a multitimbral and multi waveforms engine like the Yamaha TX81z and family (DX11, V50, YS100/200, TQ5). Which is what the Genesis FM part is most closely related to. edit: If you want the earlier arcade FM sound, the Yamaha FB-...

Re: Yamaha PSS-480/580/680 firmware?

Hi and thanks for your suggestions, coldwar. I did consider a really small notebook for that... Yes, PSS-Edit opened up this synth beyond what the front panel offers. I also like its flavor better than the Fb01, Tx81z, despite the limitations. 5 user slots are just not enough for a multitimbral mach...
