Re: my jv 80 is oozing this sticky pink goo
The same thing happened to my JD800. This happens to Roland keyboards with the little weights beneath the keys when they have spent many years in a hot environment. I had to have an entirely new keyboard installed in the JD800.

Re: Jupiter 6 VS. Prophet '08
JP6's are only going to get more expensive.... and then they'll all start to die. So get one now while they're still a viable proposition. Prophet 08's will be around for years yet and their price probably wont vary much within the next ten years.

Re: Korg Mono/Poly triggering issue...
You need to wait a while for the contact cleaner to fully dry. I've done that before with a CR8000 then tried to use the buttons again straight away and they mostly don't work at all, so don't put it all back together until it's fully dried (give it about half an hour just to make sure). The other t...

Re: How to get the Vanity 6 "Nasty Girl" synth sound
You're talking about their pad/horn sounds? They tended to slightly detune their oscillators and then put a bit of LFO on the oscillators (sine or triangle wave).

Re: Roland Jupiter 6 Arpeggio Clock In Help
Not sure exactly why it wouldn't have worked. I used to trigger my Juno 6's arp from fruity loops. I simply recorded a trigger output from another synth into Cool Edit as a wave file and then dropped the file into fruity loops. So theoretically this was an audio sample. Whether it triggered reliably...

Re: New Vintage : Korg SV-1
why is it Korg and Roland seem to shun their analog pedigree, releasing digital stuff pretending it's the same only better? It would certainly be nice if they did, particularly Roland - I love their analogue stuff - but I suppose Korg and Roland know their markets much more intimately than any of u...

Re: Korg Mono/Poly question.
I don't know what people expect in synth polyphony... ...a filter for each voice perhaps? Makes a polyphonic synth more versatile and more expressive. but if you can't find something cool to do with the MonoPoly's polyphony section, you're seriously not trying hard enough... there are MANY cool and...

Re: Korg Mono/Poly question.
I might buy a Korg Mono/Poly, but I need to know something. When controlling it by the cv/gate inputs, is it only a monosynth? Can you only have poly mode from the keyboard? Cheers! It pretty much useless for poly playing anyway - there's only one filter for all the voices. Though if you really wan...

Re: unfinished tracks.... what a waste!
i don't think unfinished tracks are a waste at all. when you're making these, aren't you developing your skills, honing your ideas? even if these tracks go nowhere, isn't the process like practicing chords & scales? ... or you could challenge yourself by pulling one of the unfinished pieces out & m...

Re: What Was the Most Organic Sounding Synth Ever Released?
That being said, "organic" is in no way an indicator of quality. No one is saying organic is best, and anyone who jumps to the conclusion that that's what is being said here says more about their own psychology than anything else. My point exactly! By the way, I thought your description of "organic...

Yamaha CS30:
Highly reliable, but seemingly inconsistent from time to time.
Somewhat complicated and difficult to get to know, but once you do, you'll love me!

Re: What Was the Most Organic Sounding Synth Ever Released?
Does organic simply refer to a synth that has oscillators that never stay in tune? Why do we use the word "organic" to describe this? There's nothing organic about electronic components, particularly when these components are used to synthesise an outcome. I suspect we all have our own varying opini...

Re: Realistic MG-1 rear jacks?
Unfortunately, no. Having been marketed as a consumer level rather than professional level instrument, the usual synth terminology was translated to layman's terms. Pitch and Trigger simply refer to CV and Gate respectively. CV/gate is just a pre-MIDI method of basic communication between synths and...
