Re: Looking for the right Synth (LoFi /Experimental) // 500-

Not sure about the experimental angles, but someone in another thread was talking about the Roland System 1 has been taking over the bass duties over all their other synths. Bitcrushing, Reverb and Delay are all in there tho so maybe it could work

Re: Looking to Buy First Synthesizer

You can also buy the Microbrute, which has the sequencer instead of arpeggiator. Over Black Friday, Minibrute is $400, Microbrute is $300 and MS 20 Mini is $450. Hard to go wrong. Same price range also has the $500 Novation Bass Station II

Re: Which laptop?

Look around on the web for the 2014 MBP models. appleinsider.com has a link on the right side to the best prices for all Apple hardware online. i7 MBPs are quad cores, aim for 16GB of RAM and at least 256GB SSD since you can always pick up a multi TB external drive for almost nothing for bonus stora...

If looking at Novation, if you can find a Novation Nova desktop in solid shape, that could be good too. Ultranova is monotimbral vs the 6 parts of the Nova. It's known for troubles with its power supply tho.

There's always wavetable synths like the Waldorf Microwave XT to cover the odd spaces in between things and the really out there.

Re: The Rentals tone with new budget synth (Minibrute, MS-20

While small and tinny is a possible sound out of the Microbrute, that hasn't been my experience for a majority of my use of it. Then again, while I occasionally venture into softer sounds, I am generally playing something messy and aggressive on the micro and I never have problems making it sound th...

Re: Looking for a Synth..(Industrial/

Last time I saw a thread like this, one of the recommendations was the Alesis Ion for the synth side of things. From videos I've watched I can see how it would work well

Nah in middle school I earned the nickname Bedhead, but it was actual bedhead, no styling needed. I'm 38 now, so clearly I was ahead of the fashion curve :)

Now if it were to be found out that Sweetwater was refusing people for the reasons called out by the bill and such, sure boycott away. Generally speaking tho, as long as douchebaggery is avoided, they won't suffer. Giant contracts and conventions worth lots of money to the state can actually sway th...

Re: Using nothing but samples to create music

Art of Noise, anyone? They're the ORIGINAL sampling group. Of course, Peter Gabriel bought the first Fairlight CMI sold in the UK and used it a smidge on his 3rd solo album (Melt) and extensively on the 4th (Security). Cool video of him recording all sorts of noises to be turned into rhythms and ba...

Nope. Best bet is probably to upload pics somewhere like Photobucket and then copy the link for that file into a post here.

Re: Roland JX-8P vs. MKS-70

I only have an 8P so I can't compare the 2, but a quick google turned up several threads comparing the 8P and the JX10, the keyboard version of the MKS70. Between Gearslutz and Vintagesnth, there were several hits. The MKS is basically 2 8P's and you can layer patches on top of each other. Another d...

Used to use the flute setting for a guitar tuner heh. Organ sound plus a distortion pedal was always pretty decent too

So Bitexion needs to buy a lamp first, THEN buy some synths :)
