Re: JX-8P aftertouch and other problems / maintanance

Be careful not to stretch the aftertouch membranes.

Be careful not to bend the conductive strips. Don't touch them with bare hands after polishing.

A good cleaning will restore the aftertouch 100%, unlike the JX-10. It's a bit tricky, just go slow.

Re: VST sound?

Well, yes, in a sense. The digital info (which will be essentially the same on all computers) is converted into analog voltage by the sound card, so all will sound different. These days however, they are probably all so very close to each other in performance (at least with the lower end units) that...

Re: Overrated

I thought the price for a Jupiter-8 was nuts when people were asking $4500 - 5000. Now it's pushed into the bizarre, rarefied world of 5-figures, at least asking price, anyway...

The LAMM Memorymoog is even worse.

Re: The JX-10 – an underrated synth

An MKS-70 is welded into my rack for the reasons above. :D

Is anyone using the Vecoven microprocessor modification? I have a JX-10 I bought with the thought of doing the mod, but never got around to it. Curious about the snappier envelopes and extra LFO, would be nice to hear some examples.

MIDI Solutions in Canada is the best starting point. MIDI merge boxes that do what they're supposed to do.

Re: Buying a synth in Canada, need help.

I don't recall the exact specifics, but if it's used, you didn't buy it at a store, you're buying for personal reasons (not to resell), and it's over something like 3 or 5 years, there are no duties. I think you have to meet something like 3 out of 4 of those criteria, I'm not exactly sure, it's fuz...
