Re: Roland RS-505

Congratulations on you great synth purchase ...I also have the 505 and VP330. If you love the 505 i really think you should recap it....Mine had a lot of leaky caps. It seems Roland synths from that time suffer from this..It's worth the effort.. What sort of symptoms did yours have, may I ask? Oh a...

Re: what's the ugliest synth you can come up with?

http://www.keyboardmuseum.com/pic/e/enso/mirdsk.jpg When I was starting out on synths (years ago, sometime during the 90s), I got some old Keyboard mags and I remember coming across an ad for one of these and even back then, when I knew next to nothing about synths, I thought it looked horribly bor...

Re: Roland PC-200 - wots diff between mk1&2

Well, yeah, you can kinda get in between, but the Roland stick isn't and has never been made for subtle modulations...
It's still one of my favourite keys for playing leads.

Re: Roland PC-200 - wots diff between mk1&2

Uh.. to be honest, I haven't assigned anything to it ever.. It's set on volume. I think you can assign all kinds of stuff to it, but it's not that intuitive (press here and this and this key and do that ..). But as I said, I haven't tried it so don't take my word for it. Maybe there's a manua...

Re: Roland PC-200 - wots diff between mk1&2

I have the old PC-200 (mk1) and compared to the mk2, it has a different keyboard. The mk1 has an "organ-type", almost waterfall keys, and mk2 has the usual lip found on most synths these days. Mk2 has a sustain pedal input and maybe some other features. I like the mk1 more, mostly because of the key...

Re: The One(s) That Got Away

A CS-50 for about €100-120 over 10 years back (when we still had a different currency..). We had closed the deal, but on the next day, the seller called that he'd turned it on to check everything is ok and it had promptly blown up. And that he'd also get better money from the insurance company for t...

Re: Yamaha CS-5 Rules!

I had a CS-5 once, one of my earliest synths, actually. I traded it for a CS-40m and some cash.

I do have fond memories of it, but I don't really miss it.

Things I most liked about it were the input and the fact that it was a fast lil' bugger to change sounds.

Re: Juno 60 Help!

This problem seems to be quite common. I've had it myself, and solved it by simply taking out and reseating all the connectors inside the synth. That was four years ago, and I've never had a spontaneous reset since then. Well, that seemed to do the trick, at least so far. I reseated every connector...

Re: Juno 60 Help!

I have a similar kind of problem with my Juno-60 as well. The presets wouldn't stay on and all the front panel buttons would just reset to their "first" position (oscs to pulse wave, chorus to off, etc..). It resets also while just playing with the front panel. I called the local Roland tech and he ...

Do I qualify as a synth-nerd, when I identified the Juno-60 from it's innards in Carbon111's pics? :geek:

Re: Guess the synths in these scores (part 3)

I'll take a stab.. on the first Zombi-video I think I hear VP-330 or RS-505 strings and a lead from Arp ProSoloist. And of course some Mellotron.
