Re: Oberheim Ob-xa/DSX/DMX CV-Gated together
Thanks to everyone for the info! Unfortunately theirs a few problems with about 5 of the keys on the ob-xa, as well as some really bad buzzing line noise on the DMX :? I finally got to check the gear out this morning. I decided to pass. The guy wasnt willing to come down on his price, and I just don...

Oberheim Ob-xa/DSX/DMX CV-Gated together
Has anybody on here used this particular no MIDI combination before? Is the DSX sequencer a good alternative to MIDI? Im curious to know the pro's and the con's of this setup. As Ive got my eye on all three machines at a local music shop around the way. The guy is asking $2000 for the entire rig :!:...

Re: gggggggg
Not bad. I like the drum track and the mellow pads most of all. In all honesty the vocal samples get a bit monotous after awhile though. All in all, the track picks up really nice around 0:58

Re: Hardware Sampler with the most hands-on interface?
Agreed. Just to give you an example though, take for instance a filter sweep. Just your basic average run of the mill LPF filter sweep with some resonance. IMPOSSIBLE to do on the 2000xl. You cant do automated pan or volume changes either :? Aside from that, the 2000xl has a few redeeming qualities ...

Re: Hardware Sampler with the most hands-on interface?
Yeah, the MPC's dont have alot of dedicated knobs for real time control and sound manipulation
Whenever I go back to using my 2000XL after just having used my ESX for a long period of time, It takes time to re-adjust to not having all those knobs at my disposal!

Re: Why buy hardware synths?
I just found a KEYBOARD MAGAZINE from February 1996. There is an add: "In ten years, software will have replaced 100% of all the hardware synthesizers, so grab yours now" assh*les! Forgot to memorize the name of such wonderful software. Maybe it was made on Pascal I never understood that prom...

Another good example suitable to this argument is the music of DJ shadow. My first reaction upon listening to "The outsider" was WTF
