Re: MIDI/CV converters

a MIDI to CV-Gate interface should not change the sound of an analog synth but the notes will probably be more precise, the thing with old electronics is that their values slightly change over time, i'll try to explain this simply, an analog synth produce it's note by varying the voltage sent to it'...

no it won't, i've been looking for months, i had to buy it... ;)

it's true though that the filter is awesome on those... it's got a kind of MS vibe to it... way better than my SHs filters....

Re: is smoking in a room bad for the output of a synth

you guys are amazing, all worried about smoke tar residue somehow finding it's way inside your vintage synth and damaging/lowering it's value... i think your lungs are worth a lot more than all the vintage ARPs and Moogs in the world... trust me, if you smoke enough to actually damage your synth, yo...

Debugging my Kenton Pro Solo Mk II

The problem i had is now fixed but i'll mention it here in case it could help someone with the same problem... i just got a Pro Solo Mk II and when i connected it into my SH-2 and held a note on my MIDI controller the note coming out of the SH wouldn't keep the pitch, the note would vary randomly, a...

Re: MG-1 won't play B, C and C#

i'm just fixing this one as a favor for a friend, my knowledge of electronics come from building guitar effects and fixing my amps, guitars and my own synths so i know my way around a soldering iron and a meter but i'm not planning on doing this on a regular basis the chip isn't socketed and i've ch...

Re: MG-1 won't play B, C and C#

THANKS Synthaolic, !!
we where hesitant to order a MO83 since those are a bit expensive and i suspected the 4046 could be a culprit but the "bell tone" works fine so i think the MO is the way to go
sadly i don't have a scope so i can't check the IC so it'll be a 50$ leap of faith...lol

MG-1 won't play B, C and C#

i'm fixing a friend's Realistic MG-1, it won't play B, C and C# on every octave, if a lower note is held and the problem notes are played, they will play but not by themselves so a key contact problem isn't likely, they will also play if "contour" is set on 'continuous', the problem notes won't play...

Re: Dead Roland SH09

before you dismantle the slider, make sure the part of the slider that's supposed to be grounded is actually grounded (check with a meter) might be a bad ground (or a part that shouldn't be grounded)

Re: Dead Roland SH09

i don't think IC 11 has something to do with the problem, it looks more like Q32 and Q33 driving the input of the EXT line (if IC 11 had a problem you'd probably also have problems with the VCO and SUB sliders), but if one of the transistors was bad then nothing would come out, not even a faint sign...

Re: Dead Roland SH09

really sounds like a power supply problem, the main power first goes through the switch and a fuse (might be the culprit) then to the transfo, which take the wall voltage and lowers it to 25V / Ground / 25V at the "power supply PCB" input, it then might go through either two fuses (UK and Europe mod...
