Re: A question to Prophet 08 owners /noisy phone output

Thanks gd for your reply. I've checked some YT-videos before going to the synth shop for testing; a few people mentioned the noticable hissing sound via the phones output; to my dismay they were right; I could clearly hear it and I was a bit shocked about that; the hissing noise was much higher than...

A question to Prophet 08 owners /noisy phone output

Hi!

I was testing a P08 at the lokal synth shop and was annoyed by the phones output noise so I wonder if the main stereo outputs are equally noisy or there's a difference?

Re: Why Aren't More Classic Synths Produced Today?

Those new analog synths would sound too harsh and digital(ish) anyway; on the other hand, the early digital synths sound pretty analog (Korg DW/EX, Ensoniq); these are the best choices for pleasant analog sounds.

Re: Why does synths "die"?

Thank you guys for the explanations Again, I only mean synths that are well cared for (not gigged; I'm aware of how they can be treated)... you switch on your precious baby and poff it's gone. I know that buttons and all moving parts get "tired" and batteries may leak; I'm interested in the mysterio...

Re: Why does synths "die"?

What I mean is...if you take care of your equipment well (like most of us), you don't drop it or fry it and they still die; what are the main causes? Drying old capacitors?
Why do they get irreparable damage if I don't fool around with them?

Why does synths "die"?

Hi! I was thinking about buying some vintage stuff like the Korg EX8000...surfing the web I read here and there for example that people bought a new used EX8000 because the their "died" and became irreparable. It never happened to me so I just ask what is your experience with dying synths or similar...

Re: General question to all synth owners / sysex dump to synth

Thanks Hidawaystudio for your input. The fundamental problem is that I can't find any "Receiving Sysex Data" menu in the FS1R so I can't set it into some kind of a receiving state as usual on other synths. I CAN save data/sysex from the FS1R but I can't dump into it...can't find the "Receive Dump/St...

General question to all synth owners / sysex dump to synth

Hi guys! I would like to see if there's an OS bug in the Yamaha FS1R. I only had 2 synths so far; a Roland D550 and Kawai K5000R (still in use). A few weeks ago I bought an FS1R synth module; I explored it throughout and read the manual but I totally failed to dump sysex INTO the FS1R since I can't ...

Re: What was the worst synthesizer you've ever owned?

I didn't own many synths but I always "tested" them at the music stores for hours LOL...one of the absolutely worst synth I've ever EVER heard was the Kurzweil 2000...a very thin sounding synth with a totally faint output; you had to turn it up to the max in order to hear something. The rack version...

Please help me identify this vintage synth...

Hi guys!
I've found a photo as a part of an illustration ("space filling" in a book)...as a synth lover I would like to identify this vintage baby but so far I've failed; it's not a Synthex eller Ensoniq (the displays reminded me of that brand) so I would need some help, thanks!
