Re: Synths and You (the collection of opinions)

1) The synth that made you want to play music: All the analog stuff I've seen in the magazines in the eighties, especially Jupi 8. 2) Your first synth: Roland D50 3) The synth that has surprised you most: Yammy AN1X, a poor man's Jupi 6, lol. I just laughed at the hype and I thought I had to try it ...

Re: Aren't we due for a new Yamaha QY module?

A few month ago I bought a used QY 100 for a good price, I wanted to program some midi stuff. I was too busy and then I set it aside while buying a guitar. (I played sologuitar 2o years ago) Imagine my surprise that could use the QY 100 as a guitar effect unit (overdrive, flanger, chorus reverb), I ...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld encoders - will stand the test of time?

Thanks for the replies. I had some gears during these years but I've never seen such scandal with the encoders like those on the Blofeld. 7-8 years after the initial problems they still use those problematic encoders. I have a nice Yamaha CS6R rack, on that one can feel the graduations of the steps ...

Waldorf Blofeld encoders - will stand the test of time?

Hi guys! I was listening to the Blofeld on YT and loved the sounds so I bought a barely used one (was aware of the encoder problem on the Blofelds), despite it was like new it already skipped values on the patch encoder, top left. It worked well otherwise but I got worried so I've sold it. (It had t...

Re: Yamaha EX5-R factory disks - solved

Try contacting Derek Cook in Wales, he makes a series of librarians for Yamaha gear including the EX5. You can reach him through this website for one of his bands . I worked with him a couple of years ago helping him test out his AN-200 librarian software. He plays an EX5 and might be able to steer...

Yamaha EX5-R factory disks

Hi guys! I'm in a process of buying the rack (it's shipped) but it comes without anything. I looked for the factory disks on the web but can't find them (the Ex5tech.com site is down) so I wonder if someone could mail me the content of the factory disks for data restoring. (As I understand one can't...

Re: Should I sell my Juno 106 or my AN1X

I don't really understand the Juno 106 hype. Also, you certainly know about the chip problem, if it's not already fixed on your synth. I tried both and kept the AN1x, I got tired of the chip problems in the Juno. You can alway buy the boutique version later. Sell the Juno as long as the prices are h...

Do you look for music shops?
There's a main distributor called 4Sound ( http://www.4sound.se/sthlm-soder ) and here's a smaller one: http://www.jam.se/butik/syntotek/

Re: New hybrid digital/analogue Roland JD/Xi

What about the XA? :D I get the impression you like it.......... a lot! lol I do like it but I'm not going to buy one because I don't need it. It's a very clever design and coming from Roland it's quite a surprise. Yeah, the XA looks interesting with the implementation of a poly analogsynth. Good t...

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey

I don't really understand why Korg went to ARP, I hoped for a Mono/Poly synth instead, that would have been the logical next step. Korg have all the necessary knowledge to manufacture their own impoved analog synths. If they put together say 4-5 Volcas (for polyphony) and added a proper analog layou...

Re: GAME-CHANGING NEW SYNTHESIZER

This is what I've been waiting for in my whole life!

Interesting that this little synth has a useful song generating algorithm, I don't think you always get same song when you push "Play" so it worth 33 bucks.
