Re: Reissues you'd like to see...
d50 without the keyboard in the boutique size/format/price is what i'd go for Hey mate! Long time no see. How are you doing? The keyboardless D50 already exists, although just slightly bigger and pricier than the Boutiques... As Black Tomorrow mentioned above, the V-Synth with VC1 does it; but espe...

Re: Yamaha Reface
If Yamaha had put the performance-modulation controls from the poly cs series on there I'd be more excited. A missed opportunity IMHO... Other than that, good that they are doing something more interesting!

Re: Yamaha Reface
After watching the demos I like the dx and it seems sort of reasonable in price considering the lack of new fm synths, I'm also glad they stuck with 4-op. The CS looks way too crippled to be useful compared to other options. The EP could be useful and the fx sounded good to my ears. I see these thin...

Re: Poindexters equipment..?
Not helpful but my guess is the usual suspects from the time. Aside from the normal drum machines, whatever sampler was cheap enough. I assume a lot of these guys would have shared samplers between eachother (being probably the most expensive part at the time). Anything from the era would work, try ...

I'd take a look at the Prophet 6, should be able to handle everything synthy that you want. Not sure if it's available yet though...

Re: Can you really JACK without a 808
IMO you have already got the right machines for making that sort of house music, I don't think you need an 808. So many great tracks made without either of the Roland heavyweights. It's hard not to sound like old Chicago tracks using a 707... Check some Dance Mania stuff for great use of the little ...

Re: Nord Modular G2 worth the money or is G1 good enough?
I use the G1 modular a lot and can say that for the price it's a fantastic synth (probably my desert island synth). I would love to have a G2 but they are always too expensive. What I am missing in the G1 is: - Midi out (for sequencers etc) - Delay fx - Snapshots - cool randomize patch feature - eas...

Re: Roland Modular
It's kind of baffling to me that they'd try to extend their cashing-in-on-vintage-nostalgia deal to modular synthesis. Isn't modular pretty much exclusively the domain of people who don't care about nostalgia for individual synthesizers or brands and just want a bunch of tools to hand-craft sounds ...
