Re: Any Decently Usable Half-Rack Synths?

Yeah definitely. If you mounted a deep 1U rack shelf you could just fasten the Mac Mini behind something shallow and still have 1U's worth of face left. I use VST's on my macbook all the time but a) it doesn't have firewire and b) I use it for a lot of different things. I've been inspired and am goi...

Re: Any Decently Usable Half-Rack Synths?

Can you actually fit a mac mini in a 1/2 rack space? It actually wouldn't be that huge of a deal to mount one in the rack case somewhere. I never really thought about doing something like that but I can see how it would work beautifully for me and replace some of my gear. I'm running a live synth ba...

Any Decently Usable Half-Rack Synths?

Analog Octave>Fuzz>VFF for MIDI Bass - Suggestions?

I'm looking for tons of input on any aspect of this... I've pretty much sold everything I had in my former bass synth rig. As much as I love the sounds I was getting, I really need more presets, faster switching, and a lot more versatility. So I'm venturing into Hex pickup territory and I bought a u...

Re: Novation Rack Synth As Dedicated Filter?

Ok cool I think I'm probably going to go with A-Station over the Super Bass Station then just for the sake of price. Am I right in assuming that neither have an envelope follower?

Re: Novation Rack Synth As Dedicated Filter?

Ok that's really interesting. Do you think the filter sounds particularly "digital"?

Both sound very promising but I haven't been able to track either down. The search continues.

Re: MIDI Rack Mixer Advice

That's exactly what I do with my keyboard rig but this is for a bass guitar synth rig.

MIDI Rack Mixer Advice

I really need something with 4-6 channels that allows you to, at the very least, recall the relative volume of each channel with a program change message. I've been looking around and I'm wondering if it doesn't make sense to explore the digital realm here? I can't really avoid this requirement at t...

Re: Novation Rack Synth As Dedicated Filter?

That's good to know. So far, the SBS is looking like it will be significantly more useful for me. I'm officially on yet another pseudo-vintage under-appreciated but hard to find MIDI module quest. I'd still like to know if the MIDI-CV converter can convert CC messages into a 0V -> +5V CV signal.

Re: Novation Rack Synth As Dedicated Filter?

Can you use CV to sweep the cutoff? Is this smoothness you've been talking about only apparent when turning the knobs or is the effect identical when using a MIDI CC message to sweep the filter. Thanks.

Re: Novation Rack Synth As Dedicated Filter?

What's your take on the filter section of the Bass Station synths and how extensively improved is the resolution on the SBS?

Novation Rack Synth As Dedicated Filter?

My bass guitar synth rig has been an evolving work in progress for quite some time now. I have an assortment of octave and fuzz pedals in MIDI-controlled bypass loops, the Moogerfooger Freqbox, a few interesting pedal filters including an MS-20 clone, the Eventide floor units, and then I have the AK...
