Korg Prophecy Owners: Midi Keyboard Velocity Test
Are there any Korg Prophecy owners here who can test something for me? Can you test your keybed to see if you get the full range of velocity values from 0 to 127. The Prophecy's got a really nice keybed but mine seems to max out at around 98, no matter how hard you press and trying all the different...

Re: Was the Roland D50 the first VA Modelling Synth?
As far as we know the filters, oscs and envelopes of the D50 weren't physically modelled on analogue circuitry. So whilst you can ignore the samples and create sounds using purely subtractive synthesis. It isn't strictly speaking a VA synth because of the lack of physical component modelling of anal...

Re: Korg is on a roll (Little Bits)
People do a lot of hiding behind the word opinion. And while you can't really be wrong that you think x, if x is something you're asserting, the assertion can be wrong. So there is such a thing as a wrong opinion.. And then there's the sort of opinion that pretends to make qualitative judgements pu...

Re: New analog boxes from Korg?
I think Stab's on the money there, for the pricepoint they *are* toys, albeit intersting ones with some potential. Don't go thinking they're the next 808/303 etc, because they're obviously not. Take them for what they are and you shouldn't be dissapointed. The emphasis is on fun , maybe sometimes t...

Roland Gaia SH01 vs JP8000/JP8080
I can get a used JP8000 slightly cheaper than the Gaia. From Youtube video the JP8000 'phatter' than the Gaia.

Any impressions of the Nanozwerg? How phat is it as a bass and Lead synth? I'm looking for something that really cuts through a mix.

Was the Roland D50 the first VA Modelling Synth?
There's a big argument on KVR on whether or not the D50 was the first Virtual Analogue modelling synthesizer. Does anyone really know the answer?

Aliasing in a 2010 synthesizer? I'd expect that from cheap synthedit plugins not a big product from Roland.

Re: John Bowen Solaris video Messe 2010
Wow great demo looks and sounds awesome. Hopefully Virtual analogues will finally get the respect they deserve. Which Korg Synths did John Bowen design? if i recall correctly, John Bowen was the product manager for the Korg Wavestation and then the original Korg OASYS (productized as the PCI card w...

Re:
I don't know what the worst Korg is, but in the seventies and early eighties most Korg synths were considered entry-level budget items. They sometimes came up with a couple of innovative or unusual features that other synths didn't have, but inexplicably they would leave out some important basic fu...
