Re: selling a synth you planned to re-purchase

I don't know about the rest of you... but I have had times where I needed quick cash and resorted to selling a synth that I didn't want to let go. Specifically the synth I'm talking about is the Waldorf Microwave II. About 3 years ago I had to sell mine... and I thought within a year I'd be able to...

Re: Sample storage - SCSI stuff and so forth

I'm not convinced that some of the newer compact flash or MMC card to SCSI converter solutions will work in the older SCSI samplers such as EIII and S1000 - please prove me wrong as this would be a very neat/quiet running solution. For older cherished samplers I still highly recommend the use of SC...

Re: List of Midi Editors/Synths featuring the "Randomize" button

Since I started using the "randomize patch" function on the Blofeld, I've become addicted to it. I've read in some other post that there is also a midi editor for the JD-800 (which I can't remember the name...) that works in a similar fashion. Korg's Microkorg software editor also features one. Are...

Re: Synth Technicians and Repairs

I am based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I've got an Oberheim Two-Voice SEM-based synth I dearly love & need to get repaired. A couple of posts have mentioned John Leimseider at the Cantos Music Foundation in Calgary. Can anyone comment directly on their experience with John/Cantos? Or are there an...

Re: Advice for renting synths

The problem with renting is that no one is going to give your gear the same respect as you do. I've seen a lot of gear get trashed followed by the comment ..."oh well it's a rental" I used to rent out some of my gear through an instrument rental company, they did a good job of keeping everything saf...
