Re: Teenage Engineering OP-1 Synthesizer

I really like the idea of the OP-1... a small portable production unit.. Personally, I would really just have to see it and touch it in person to see if I'd want to spend 700$ on it... The price is quite high imo. And just by looking at it, it looks like it could possibly be made kind of cheaply... ...

Re: Elektron Octatrack!

I have a hard time expecting that to be the case... There are so many samplers, and sampling software out there now, that I don't think you'll ever hear anything like, "this was made on a octatrack, and only can sound like this because it was made on a octatrack." The same way that nobody can say th...

Re: New DSI instrument!

I don't agree with all this sniveling at the price. This isn't an MPC folks, it's analog! Analog or not, $2000 is a h**l of a lot of cash for a drum machine! Analog drum machine / 6 voice polysynth with analog + digital oscillators. $2000 is not a horrible price for this. Many of us have paid much ...

Re: New DSI instrument!

Tempest got me really excited and interested... But also got me super interested in what Linndrum 2 is going to bring to the table. I know it's said to be, digital sampling workstation or whatever.. But I'm curious to see, how will it differ from Tempest, and more than anything, how will it differ f...

I pretty much new for a fact that wasn't going to happen this NAMM.

They should have a poly rig setup though with 3 SP's and a LP for a 4-voice setup.

Re: Winter Namm 2011

So far the only real thing to catch my eye is the tempest... Roland failed so far, but I never expected them not to.

The korg thing looks ok, I guess. Not too exciting to me.

But yeah.. I'm already thinking of ways to save 2K by summer for the Tempest..

Re: New DSI instrument!

fully analog drum machine with 4 OSC's per voice, plus basically a tetra and a half of polysynth playability... Sure 2000$ is more than I would like to pay for it, but it seems like the price is somewhat justified.

I'm really excited to try one of these badboys out.

Re: Virus Classic VS Virus TI?

The TI also has many features that eat polyphony that the Classic/B doesn't have :) The manual itself is a bit conservative - there's seldom the risk of ending polyphony using less than 5 patches at once, unless they're all set to 8x unison. Has VSE become Virus Synth Explorer? :D Lots of threads a...

Re: Virus Classic VS Virus TI?

yea seriously. but again, you only really notice it when you're using the virus to do more than one sound simultaneosly. if you're only using one or two patches you can pretty much throw on whatever you like and not notice a difference. if you want the ti to cover the bass, lead, and pad of a song,...

Re: Virus Classic VS Virus TI?

the effects are the biggest eater of polyphony imo. check out this section about polyphony in the quick start guide: Wow... just read through it.. thats crazy.. I guess I could see myself using it up quite fast as well. I can't beleive the analog mode, 1-4 pole filter would have such a huge effect ...

Re: Virus Classic VS Virus TI?

i've never tried a virus b, but i use up the polyphony on my Ti pretty quickly, especially in the effects and layring dept, but it doesn't really become noticable until you're working with more than 1 or 2 patches at the same time with the editor or multi function See this is what I'm not so sure o...

Re: Virus Classic VS Virus TI?

Better a Virus C than A or B as you get the "Moog" filter which does sound really nice and a few other improvements. I've seen C racks in the $700 range which isn't much more than you would pay for a B rack. If all you care about is the sound and not the knobs, the TI Snow is starting to show up us...

Virus Classic VS Virus TI?

I know the spec differences... biggest thing I can see is that will effect me is definitely the polyphony.. But the fact that I don't need, nor will use, the integration of the TI... Would it be smarter to save 5-600$ and but a Virus Classic or B instead? I guess I'm just trying to get a handle on w...
