Re: Rant about the lack of modern hardware samplers.
Yeah, I found my eyes a very important part of the process when looping on my Emax II: 0008902 2765443 ;) Yeah, there was a time I thought editing loop points in decimal was an upgrade. Try looping on a Mirage in hex. Actually that's not even the hard part with the mirage, the hard part is that it ...

Re: Rant about the lack of modern hardware samplers.
And to clarify, sampling should be done by the ear, not by the eye I disagree that sampling should be done by the ear and not the eye - good sampling requires judicious use of each. For example, monitoring levels is something that should really use the eye as well as the ear, you often want to use ...

Re: 'Self' Ringmod?
Basically the effect is the output frequency is 2x the input frequency. You could probably test that with a sine wave input. As far as why they sound distorted, what you've done is basically convert the signal to its 2nd order harmonic counterpart. 2nd order harmonics are a type of distortion, so yo...

Re: Gimme some criticism on these tracklets!
I thought they were really good. I disagree with the above poster though. You have developed your ability to compose beats. Now you have to develop your ability to evolve those beats over time to make a finished song. Writing more tracklets will not finish any music. I'm actually in the exact same ...

Gimme some criticism on these tracklets!
I've had a hard time completing pieces lately so I put together a compilation of a lot (16 or so) of short unfinished pieces I did and I'd like to hear from you guys on whether any of them are worth completing, or what direction I should go, or just generally what you liked/didn't like about any of ...

Re: Rant about the lack of modern hardware samplers.
I like old hardware samplers. I personally own a Mirage, an Emax II, and a DSS-1, and I wouldn't at all mind getting a couple more old beasties. However, I also completely understand why the dedicated hardware multisampler market died. There just is no competition when you look at the capability, fl...

For me, it was going to raves in the mid-late 90s and listening to music like Aphex Twin, The Prodigy, Orbital, etc.
I really liked the strange squiggly sounds.

Re: An 80s Inspired Disco Groove
It definitely nails that era! It sounds like something that could have been playing near the end of Boogie Nights during one of Diggler's more hopeful moments.

Re: Morgana Vintage Sampler Plugin...
Hello, I thought I might be able to offer up some insight on this plugin, seeing as how I helped create it. :) Morgana is a Mirage emulation. We did go to great lengths to attempt to model the sound of the Mirage. For example, if you use a high "peak" value for the envelopes, you have a reasonably s...
