Modifications

Hello VC, could anybody recommend people who modify these analogue synths (preferably tried and tested):

Roland SH-101
Roland TB-303 (apart from Devilfish)
Roland TR-808

Mainly modifications for MIDI functionality, I have checked Google but get flooded with lots of results :-(

Cheers

Re: TB 303

Some x0xb0x operating systems allow Midi automation of filter cutoff, usually by Midi velocity. Thing is, what most people love about the original sound of the Roland Bassline is the effect of the Accent and Slide parameters on the steps, which you won't be able to reproduce very well with Midi. Be...

TB 303

Hello VC, I have been debating purchasing a Roland TB303 for a while now, I love the original sound and believe it would be worthy of the price tag. My question is.. is the filter automatable? and for those who have the devil fish or analog solutions mods are they a must or a no go? cheers

Re: Thinking of selling up?

Cheers lads your comments have really helped, I have decided going be best to keep the hardware I most use, get rid of the 909 etc as I never really use it these days. I do produce music for a living, but also love creating weird sounds in my spare time (cannot be helped lol). The ease of use with s...

Re: Thinking of selling up?

Sorry I was rather vague there, yeah very true I do utilise both but just been on my mind recently what to do. The thread was mainly aimed at people that have sold up and possibly regretted it I have spent a long time collecting hardware and do not want make the wrong / rash decision (like people do...

Thinking of selling up?

I have been debating for a while weather to sell my hardware and go completely software based, personally I much prefer the sound of hardware (old skool). However some of the new software is so flexible and sounds great (very digital though). I was wondering what other peoples opinions are and if yo...

Re: Novation Ultranova

Yeah I was reading about this it does look quite good, I am not really that interested in the performance base features however they would be good for creativity in the studio. I liked the sound on the supersaw and editor looked good, I am worried it may be very similar sounding to the SNII which I ...

What Synth?

Alright VC, I am a big hard dance fan especially the old german hard dance that used to be massive back in the mid 90's from labels such as EDM (Cocooma, Atomic Junkies), ZYX Music, Space Flower etc. I am after getting hold of a couple of the vintage synths utilised around this time by such hard dan...

Re: what's your take on modding gear?

Personally I prefer any synth I bought to be mod free, mainly because you have not got a clue who did it. However, I can see the benefits of some mod's, especailly wehn done to a professional standard.
