ARP 1623 CV question
So... My friend has a line on an ARP 1623 sequencer. He's hoping to use it as a modulation source for his WMD Geiger Counter pedal , but he's not sure if the voltage range of the ARP's output is in the correct voltage range for the Geiger Counter's CV input. Is it compatible? The site mentions an op...

1. Roland D-50
2. Ensoniq Fizmo
3. E-mu Emulator II
4. Roland Juno 60
5. Oberheim SEM
6. Yamaha DX-1
7. Waldorf Blofeld
8. Moog Voyager
9. E-mu Proteus
10. Waldorf Wave
I'd be happy with just the first 5 though...

Re: A guitarists perspective on old vs new synths :)
You can buy a brand-new Les Paul or Strat or Jaguar, but you can't buy a new 2600 or MS-20 or OB-X. I think that's the source of a lot of the debates...with guitars, you'd be debating old vs. new versions of the same model. With synths, you're debating completely different models, where the unique c...

JX-8P, I think...none of the other answers seem too likely except for e, which is too vague.

'83 DX7, missing the MIDI channel select label...outside of synthesizers, I have a busted, soon-to-be-repaired early 70's Traynor guitar amp.

Re: SOON TO BE NEW USER OF ALESIS MICRON!
The manual explains everything, really. It's fairly well-written, and it tells you everything about the keyboard, including a brief explanation of subtractive synthesis. Other than that there's not much to say. It's a pretty easy keyboard to use, just remember that you'll need some patience to flip ...

Re: Best synth buys you've made
DX-7, TX-7, and accessories, $200. The DX-7 might need about $100 in repairs though, unless I do it myself.
Nearly ended up with a free TR-707 but I missed out on it because I'm an idiot.

Re: Roland SH01
As a Micron owner driven mad by one-knob menu-diving, I have to say I'm intrigued by the controls on the SH01. Looks like it might be the most useful, efficient, intuitive interface of any modern VA. Sonically, though...I guess I should reserve judgement until I actually hear the thing in person, bu...

Re: What got you into synths?
The Exit...Stage Left version of Xanadu by Rush. It's kinda weird, because the synths are fairly minor in that song, but the huge, warm sound just blew me away. And then the later 80's stuff turned me on to digital synths in a big way.

Re: Synth Technicians and Repairs
Does anyone have any recommendations for techs in the Vancouver, B.C. area? I've been referred to Backline a few times...are they any good?
