Re: MIXING- Very basic help needed

Yes, the device I use is a one-off creation which was made for me. It records while playing back previously recorded tracks, all digital. I have many thousands of tracks on it and within each song up 100 tracks. It might be best if I ask the person who made it as I think it was mentioned that there ...

Re: JP8080 acting unpredictably - any suggestions?

Update April 2017. Still not fixed but I am fairly sure now it is a capacitor problem and have been given block diagrams. Am hoping to get friend to change the suspect one's one by one.

MIXING- Very basic help needed

Hiy. I am thinking of buying my first professional mixer and it looks like an Alto Live 2404 is the one I am thinking of getting. I have only ever used an old homemade mixer that was made for me 20 years ago so it was simple but lacked the kind of things you get on shop-bought mixers. What I need to...

Re: JP8080 acting unpredictably - any suggestions?

Hiy I have had my own JP8080 second-hand for about 6 years and it was fine until about a month ago. Then it began to develop weird sounds within the sounds that I normally play. I thought they were being caused by old wires in the studio but eventually tracked it down to being the JP8080 itself... U...

Re: Help: MIDI not talking from Cubase with M-Audio Keystati

Finally getting somewhere now... I bought one of those USB/MIDI converter leads and have tried out Cubase directly to one of my hardware synths and got that working. One problem was I installed the USB/Midi lead into one USB port on my PC (running Windows 7) and then while fiddling around put it int...

Re: Help: MIDI not talking from Cubase with M-Audio Keystati

Hi Thank you for your ideas. I still seem to be having problems so what I think I need to do is go through and test each thing out one by one until I can locate the problem or my own stupid mistake. So basically the layout of my studio is as follows: I have my M-Audio Keystation 88 as my main Midi d...

Help: MIDI not talking from Cubase with M-Audio Keystation

Hiy all. Has been a while since I last posted on the group and I have a problem I am having trouble solving. I have just downloaded to my PC a free 30 day trial of Cubase Elements 8 from Steinberg. My PC does not have the traditional MIDI plugs built in so I am using a USB port to record MIDI messag...

HELP! Getting balance right when recording - Headphones

Hiy I have some technical questions about using headphones when recording on my synths... Basically I am a bit treble deaf but hear a lot of bass. I have two pairs of Sennheiser headphones (in-ear and over-ear) The in-ear one's have little bass when using them and the over-ear one's have way too muc...

Re: Advise on Mixer Choice needed

Thanks for all the help. As of now, Aug/Sept 2015 with the help of my partner we are designing and making our own mixer specially! I'm calling it the Dawnmist Fluffixer. It will have about 13 true stereo channels.

Re: Advise on Mixer Choice needed

Hi All Thanks for your thoughts on this. It seems after looking at the options we will build our own custom mixer after all. Have designed it already and my partner has done the block diagram. We will pick the components for it shortly. This way I get all the preserved stereo I want and all the righ...

Advise on Mixer Choice needed

I need to plug in: MIC SYNTH (I will be using Mono) Roland W30 Workstation SYNTH (I will be using Mono) Yamaha DX7fdII SYNTH (I will be using Mono) Homemade synth SYNTH (I will be u...

Modifying Card Slot: to take 3.5 volt cards instead of 5V

Hiy QUESTION: Has anyone successfully modified a Roland JP8080 card slot to allow 3.5 volt 2mb smartmedia cards to be used? As manufactured the unit takes 2mb or 4mb cards but they are 5v and are not easy to get and painfully expensive. But changing the voltage of the slot if it can be done means I ...

Re: Looking for PIANO Module with VERY Realistic Sounds

Have finally resolved this! I bought a Roland Fantom XR with the expansion card for "complete piano" and have access to lots of really good piano sounds now, perfect!
