Ensoniq E-Prime

Hey Everyone,

I've got a lead on an inexpensive Ensoniq E-Prime keyboard locally, but I can't find barely anything online about it. There's only one review on Sonic State, so I'm wondering if anyone here has ever owned one and can tell me if the E-Prime is worth it. Thanks!

Re: Yamaha E50 has arrived :-)

The pipe organ is great, but the synth sounds demo is spectacular. Best of luck with your mods!

Re: Smoking and gear.

My Yamaha DX7IIFD came from a chain smoker. The synth doesn't smell anymore, but the case does. I have to keep the case in the garage because the smell refuses to leave. At least the person smoked pipes, so the stench smells good in a wierd way.

Re: xiosynth25 vs. alpha juno 2

I have owned an Alpha Juno, and I currently have a Xiosynth 49. The Xio sounds good, but the build quality is enough to be a deal breaker, in my opinion. The knobs fall off, the pitch bender has a mind of its own, and I'm afraid to play it. However, the sounds are very nice, and the basses are great...

Re: Used synth stores in New York City?

I have purchased many of my synths at Rogue Music . People on Yelp complain about their staff, but they've always gone above and beyond my expectations. I spend hours in that store whenever I go, and much of that time is spent talking with the guys there. It's a great little shop.

Re: Looking to get my first synthesizer

I agree with StabFrenzy. The MS2000 and R3 are very capable synths and are fun to play. I'd buy the MS because its interface is very straightforward and conducive to learning subtractive synthesis. You should also look at the Alesis Ion if you can find one. These synths are all great to learn on, an...

Re: Vintage synthesizers used by Toto (and where)

Paich used the SY99 and Sy77 in the 90's. His keyboard tech John Jessel still uses an SY99 live to trigger samples and do brass section fills.

Re: M1 Rotary Speaker On/Off

+1 for Synthaholic's post. I've only played an M1 in a store, but I own an 01/W FD. To access the effects selection menu on the 01, press "edit program", and use the "page +" button to get to page 8, which is the effects page. You can select which effects you want to use on that particular program a...

New Korg Analogs?

I just got back from Guitar Center with my new Monotron. It's pretty good, actually. But it got me thinking. Is there a possibility that Korg will come out with a line of real analog synths? With keyboards, though. No touchpads.

Re: hehe, mom wants a keyboard!

The SY77 is truly an excellent keyboard, and sells for ridiculously low prices now. Also, it has a sequencer so she can listen to her performances later.

Re: dx11 velocity problems

I have a DX7iiFD, which used similar buttons to the DX11. When I first purchased my DX, the buttons were creaky. I've found the noise goes away if you press the buttons frequently. However, it would be much more effective just to open the synth up and clean all the contacts. Those damn things are du...
