Re: UVI Vintage Vault/Vintage Vault 2

Well, I have to say I'm a bit bummed after reading this thread. No, I didn't buy it, lol, but I LOVE how it's laid out synth-by-synth with similar-ish synths forming their own categories, and I also like how it uses high-quality multisamples of the originals.

Re: Recommendations for my studio

I'm pretty new to synths and drum machines. I've only been interested for about a year but have collected a few. I have some money to spend and would like a new synth. I can spend up to about $1000. The music I make is sort of psychedelic pop similar to Tame Impala, but more electronic. My collecti...

UVI Vintage Vault/Vintage Vault 2

The price is steep but ever since I first read about Vintage Vault last month I've been awestruck. Is it really as good as it sounds?

Also, what about other UVI products like Sparkverb and Falcon?

Re: Dam Funk Synths

I know this thread has been dead for a long time and I'm zombifying it, and I apologize. However, I just find this so interesting. An old home organ, two DCO analog polys, and a VA. Not a single traditional VCO analog or a single monosynth. I don't have a problem with this at all - the album sounds ...

Re: Synths used on...?

The synth description pages give lists of artists who have used particular synths, but not generally albums or tracks, or what the synths were used for (e.g., bass, strings, brass, leads, etc.). Does anyone have info on albums, tracks, parts, and/or patches of the following synths?: Korg: Wavestati...

Re: USB-MIDI cable/interface help

Nope, you only need physical MIDI for your hardware instruments. The USB connection from the MPK to the computer is carrying MIDI data in and out, so you can play your hardware instruments from the MPK, your virtual instruments from the MPK and the computer can play your hardware instruments via th...

Done, and thanks, but I thought I had to connect it via MIDI to actually play virtual instruments with it.

USB-MIDI cable/interface help

Looking for recommendations for USB-MIDI cable or interface. I currently have an el cheapo that cost me less than five dollars and it won't send sysex data. I need something suitable for my MPK225...something class-compliant that can run with both El Capitan and Windows 10, if such a product exists....

Re: UltraNova vs. MiniNova vs. other similar VAs

Install an SSD, and check out the RAM limit- I'm pretty sure it's one of the models where the real limit is 8GB, not 4GB. Got MacTracker, which tells me that the RAM limit is 4GB as set by Apple, but 6GB in actuality. I guess that means I could theoretically get two more gigs of RAM if I took out t...

Re: MIDI controller

I just looked at what Sweetwater Sound sells for $200 or less. None of them met your criteria...there was one unit that had everything except the latching. The Akai MPK225 does meet all your criteria, it's $250. It displays tapped tempos and you can set a specific tempo in every preset as well as a...

MIDI controller

Hey, I'm looking for a MIDI controller. The following features are essential: - Velocity- and aftertouch-sensitive keyboard. - Latchable arpeggiator with multiple modes (up, down, up/down, and random at the very least) - Visual, numeric display of arpeg/seq tempo - Pitch and mod wheels - If the keyb...

Re: UltraNova vs. MiniNova vs. other similar VAs

I assume it's particular drives and not "all third-party" drives, because Apple doesn't make drives? What's the evidence for this anyway? Yeah, I don't know the exact specs of what causes certain drives to not work...maybe "aftermarket" was the word I wanted to use. As far as evidence goes, there's...

Re: Arturia KeyStep

Not having a tempo readout is a red flag for me if the device is going to be the clock master. Exactly. It's frustrating because I love everything else about it. It's so feature-rich, and I feel like a controller with the KeyStep's features AND a tempo readout will cost way more. I find it hard to ...
