Re: Modding moog sonic 6

sorry if i confused anyone as far as what synthesizer i was talking about. i now know that if i say "sonic 6" you might think that i'm talking about something completely different from a "sonic six."

i do thank everyone for all the constructive input on that actual question i asked though!

:D

Radiophonic style with live drums

Hi, I love bbc radiophonic workshop, especially the pop music. Does anyone know of any albums in this style that use live drums? I've got the paddy kingsland fourth dimension LP with a live rhythm section which I love, and the newest belbury poly, belbury tales on ghost box also with a live rhythm s...

analog synth anime music

a few years ago i came across youtube videos of this amazing japanese guy with an incredible analog synth collection. he had a bunch of videos posted where he was constructing what seemed to be backing tracks for an animated program, track by track for each song, with video of him playing… then you ...

Re: Modding moog sonic 6

Got it all figured out. It's called a cinch jones plug. I can get one on eBay for $5 to $10, then wire it up to connect through the right pin, put a 1/4" cable on it and I'm ready to go.

Thanks for your help all.

Re: Modding moog sonic 6

Sir ruff, do you know where I can find one of these plugs so I can wire it up with a 1/4" input in to the trigger circuit? This would be perfect, with no actual modding of the machine.

Re: Modding moog sonic 6

Also, a main reason this is an issue is that the s6 is my only synth that can keyboard transpose sequences... Which very possibly this mod would disengage, not unlike my odyssey.

Re: Modding moog sonic 6

I don't feel like it would be worth any less with gate control. That mod would make it my most used synth. It already has a volume control input, couldn't gate be tapped into the keyboard gate and wired through that plug? No new holes, and reversible. Unless you know how to trick it into responding ...

Modding moog sonic 6

I love my sonic 6, among many mods i would love to do, I would REALLY like to be able to have an external trigger. Is there any way to do this? This is a great synth for sequencing, but drives me crazy that I can't trigger and do ext. gate control.

Thanks!

Re: Who here is ALL ANALOG?

Time is a sacrifice. I know who you are Marc, you have knowledge far beyond me for sure, and do tons of excellent work for analog electronic music. This post was to see if there are any contenoraneous people who approach music in the same way I do... There's gotta be, right? Most are like Marc, wher...

Re: Who here is ALL ANALOG?

there is little to do with cool with this concept and inquiry, but more so about a certain way of working with sound and aesthetic. i think it's amazing what people can do digitally, but i grew up listening to and collecting records from the 60s and 70s, getting into krautrock and bbc radiophonic wo...

Re: Pyramid Power! PYRADYM

i saw one of these last year, it was developed by one of the people on the moog voyager team. it uses similar oscillators to the one's in the voyager. from there, it's an interesting concept that really has no use for people like us… it was designed for massage therapists and energy workers, not mus...

Who here is ALL ANALOG?

does anyone here have a studio set up that is at least 95% analog with pre 1980 gear? This means tape machines, vintage mixer/console, old mono/duo modular synths etc?

Re: Contemporary analog music

i discovered a great project out of belgium called BEAR BONES, LAY LOW. from what i can tell he primarily uses an old roland 1000, which in listening to his work, he pushes it beyond all it's boundaries. and also uses an ms-10 sometimes. I read in an interview that he only records on tape as well, i...
