Re: DSI Announces New REV2 16-Voice Analog Poly Synth!
Haven't been around here much but thought I'd drop a review I posted elsewhere... http://i.imgur.com/AJ8iDhH.jpg The Prophet Rev2 is a beauty and, so far, my favorite poly synth--with almost all of the things I loved about the PolyEvolver, which this is replacing, and the P600 plus lots of extra bit...

That says it was late 70s. Looks like divide down oscillators into a filter.

You'll need a Euro/banana jack converter.

Re: Do different oscillators have their "own" sound ?
My point about resistors or capacitors or transformers or whatever..... was that for a given rating or specific purpose or characteristic there will always be variations due to process variability. I don't expect 2 oscillators putting out a square wave at 440 Hz to be an exception. Of course, no di...

Not the most convenient place for the patchbay.
But I'd be very interested in hearing more about the sequencer...

Re: Prophet 12 vs Tempest?
The Rytm has a free and super-powerful VST called Overbridge which would probably prove super useful to you if you're basing your workflow around a DAW. Check it out. The 08 is very straightforward. Like I said, I've not played the 12. My point, though, was that the 08 has analog oscillators while t...

Re: Prophet 12 vs Tempest?
I was going to mention the Rytm but didn't want to overwhelm the lad with options.
Different people prefer the sound of one vs the other; as for me I like them both but I much prefer the Rytm's interface/flow.

Re: Prophet 12 vs Tempest?
thanks, Im pretty certain on getting the Tempest first. I still have a reasonable budget to get one more synth and I really had interest in the Prophet 12 MODULE. Could you give me some brief input on the prophet 12 module and from your perspective its strengths and weaknesses? The tempest is prett...

Re: Prophet 12 vs Tempest?
Yea I get what you're saying. but my point is whether Analog produced 808s and sounds in GENERAL have a more detailed and deeper/warmer/better tone than digitally produced 808s and sounds.? I wanted to improve the quality of my music and I dont feel I am getting the warmth and tone I want because i...

Re: DSI Poly Evolver: to buy or not to buy?
The polyphony probably feels limited if you are a fancy keys player (I'm not) or sometimes just with lush pads where one voice gets robbed abruptly. To solve for that I added a desktop Evo which you can also polychain. But it just became too fiddly. So I've learned to just work with the limitation a...

Re: Questions about the modular fascination
To actually make a comparison, you're not just selecting from options that a website offers, you have access to all of the JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and C++ to build a site. Interesting but imo a bit unsound ( ) comparison: most web designers, to implement their design (I know I was one) do ...

Re: Questions about the modular fascination
As for modular users necessarily understanding synthesis better, I'd say it would be hard to dive into modular and not get a better understanding of synthesis-- Although this is supposed to be a strong plus, I always see it as a tough starting point. You need to already have knowledge BEFORE you di...
