Re: Korg NS5R hiss?
Hi, thanks for the reply! I'm not using the main outs because they're the big kind of jack (I'm a n00b lol) and my PC audio in is a minijack. I'm using a shielded minijack to minijack cable.

Korg NS5R hiss?
Hey guys, long time no see. :3 Anyway I bought another Korg synth, the Korg NS5R and I absolutely LOVE IT! :3 It has an amazing sample set (WATERPHONE HELLS YES!) and building your own sounds is very straightforward (glad I have the manual!). The only problem is that I don't have a mixer, so I have ...

...Didn't Vangelis used to have 8 CS-80s or something? Or was that Stevie Wonder? It was Stevie Wonder, only he really only owned two. His techs used to just move them around the studio when he wasn't looking, which was pretty much all the time.... HAHAHAHAHAHA! I'm going to h**l anyway so he...

I agree, but I still think you got an amazing deal with the M3R. I love that box, every time I turn it on I want to score a nature documentary!rap and country wrote:i bought an m3r for $50!
but i don't think it was as good a deal as a yamaha sy-35 for $100

Re: Why has no one made a midi controllable analog drum unit
Better yet, why hasn't anyone made a FM synthesis drum box? I have a cheapy little toy Yamaha keyboard (PSS-460) and I'd be damned if those drums didn't sound like a smaller cousin to the 808!

Re: choosing a sampler to build tracks from scratch
I know the MPC1000 can get sounds from USB, it's a feature I was reading about on the AKAI site.
I've always heard that the old rack boxes are better for setting keyzone samples, but don't quote me because I don't know for sure.
I'm thinking of getting an MPC too! :3

Korg M3R - $90. I was looking for 01r and got them confused, but it was a happy mistake, love this box!

Re: tips for cool samples
This has probably been mentioned before but Neil Rumney a.k.a "NRG" used the "record fast and play back at a lower octave" trick tallowwaters described on "I Need Your Lovin'" so he could fit all the samples in his Ensoniq EPS16+, the only board he used to make that track.

Re: Thinking of selling up?
Would it be crazy to sell a DX200 and start hunting for a Korg DS-8? I like FM, but the DX200 is a nigh-untweakable performance groovebox, and the DS-8 seems to be a fully programmable playable instrument. It's drum sounds are c**p (nice tablas though) and who cares about resonant filters when you c...

Re: Sequencer shootout:Yamaha QY700 vs MPC1000 (for sequenci
Not used one but yeah it's probably not the simplest. You had all the MIDI channels set up correctly? If you can stretch to an MPC that would do you fine as well so I'm not suggesting the RM1X is necessarily better. It's quick to work with, solid and fairly simple to pick up. Plus you'd be getting ...
