Re: Why we're we given synths sooner?

You obviously never did your homework when it comes to synthesizers. Remember how the computer when it was first produced in the late 40's/early 50's was as big as a room, and had to be programmed with punch cards? In a similar way, the earliest synthesizers were much like those computers. Huge, spa...

Re: Why do people hate the alesis SR16?

Just wasn't the drum machine for me. It was aimed at rock/jazz/pop, and not really electronic. That's probably changed with the sr-18, but I don't really need that in my collection. If I saw it for under $20, I'd think about it, but when you've marketed a $100 drum machine for over 20 years (and sti...

Re: Vocoder Advice

I wouldn't suggest a Electrix WarpFactory as your only vocoder. It's got a nasal sound to it, and doesn't really sound like an old 70's ELO vocoder AT ALL! Try a TC Electronic VoiceTone Synth pedal....If that doesn't work, and you need a dedicated vocoder/synth, you can't go wrong with the Korg Radi...

I've seen 3 of these Moogs come and go in my local shop. If it were cheaper, I'd want it.

I think they got bought out by somebody, but I wasn't paying attention when it all went down. Does anybody know what happened to Creamware?

Re: how do you feel about that old 707?

I bought some guitar pedals from Acid Hazard, and I asked him about his 707. I used to own one a long time ago with a manual. But the manual didn't really say how to go beyond 1 measure, and I asked him how the heck you do another measure. His response? "You can't. You can however link different pat...

Re: KORG Discontinues Two Electribe Classics

Wow. I know this is a old post and all, but alot of drama here. I just hope not to stir it up some more by posting... I happen to love the er-1, em-1, and my ea-1 I'm a little bored of, but won't sell it. It will have it's place in my setup due to the sequencer, and link it to any other va s...

Re: What was the Deepest Synth you ever bought?

Probably my Novation X-station61. It doesn't do drums, doesn't have a onboard sequencer, but it's got some juicy effects, can be used for 2 channels of audio inputs, it's got a little FM in it, and it does Bass, strings, organs, electric pianos, and other sounds....I love the 3 different LFO's to pl...

Re: A book on modulars

It'd be tricky to make a cookbook of modular synths, due to the fact that there are so many variables. But maybe down the road, somebody with a decent setup can point out some suggestions on what module would sound great patched to what other module.

A Roland D-110 for $75. And it didn't even work.
