Re: Arp 2600/Odyssey/Pro Soloist 4072 to 4034 Filter Mod????

Yes, it definately has the 4034 and it is encased so I don't see how anyone could have got in to change it. Maybe ARP were using up left over parts because they were compatible? The calibration procedure on these instruments calls for one of the trim pots to be adjusted for the "best sound" which, b...

Re: Arp 2600/Odyssey/Pro Soloist 4072 to 4034 Filter Mod????

I'm really not sure if they can be swapped, but I would guess not. I've never had my hands on an Omni, but the Quadra (which I think is meant to have some of the same parts as an Omni) has totally different boards to the DGX. There must be other people here who are more familiar with the insides of ...

Re: Arp 2600/Odyssey/Pro Soloist 4072 to 4034 Filter Mod????

My Pro/DGX has a 4034 - exactly the same filter as my Pro Soloist. I think most Pro/DGX units have a 4075 though.

The 4034 is awesome. I would best describe it as having the balls of a Moog with the liquid squelch of a Jupiter 8.

Re: La Roux's "Bulletproof" (What synths?)

DX7 eh? This isn't "Bulletproof", but here's me playing a bit of "In For The Kill" on a DX7. A typical sort of brassy DX sounds-slightly-distorted-but-isn't kind of sound. http://www.kitevent.co.uk/_misc/audio/Yamaha%20DX7%20In%20For%20The%20Kill.mp3 I'd guess they used quite a bit of DX7 on the alb...

Haven't played with a Monotron, but if If it makes good sounds and is fun to use then why not?

Re: "Wonderful Christmas Time" by Wings Synth?

Think it was James at Synth Repair Services who told me they used an ARP Quadra, and James is not usually wrong about anything related to synths! Here's me playing a bit of it on a Quadra. No effects except echo (it wouldn't really work without echo!)... http://www.kitevent.co.uk/_misc/audio/ARP%20Q...

Re: La Roux's "Bulletproof" (What synths?)

I remember being sent a link to their myspace before they hit the mainstream. They had demos of In for the kill, Quicksand and Reflections are Protection. Thought they were great tracks and I love their album. They also had some studio pictures which showed various bits of hardware. Cant remember wh...
